Cycling destination No. 1: Alpe-Adria Cycle Path
This cycle route is one thing above all: INCREDIBLE! Because cycling across the Alps to the sea is a unique experience that you will remember for a long time.
You start in the picturesque Mozart city of Salzburg at the foot of the Alps and "experience" around 370 kilometres of cycling on your way to Grado in Italy, which could hardly be more varied. Along the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path, the historic Hallein on the Salzach awaits you, the wildly romantic Gastein Valley surrounded by the impressive mountain world of the Hohe Tauern, the approach through the Tauern Lock, the sunny Drau Valley in Carinthia, Villach, Udine and, as the destination, the charming fishing town of Grado on the Gulf of Trieste. Welcome to Italy!
If you want to stay in particularly exquisite hotels during your cycle tour, book the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path with Charm. And those who want to explore the heart of the Alps-Adriatic region by bike from one location enjoy wonderful cycling excursions around Villach on our Alps-Adriatic Tour Based in One Hotel.
Cycle tour destination no. 2: Loire Cycle Path
On this cycle route, too, the sea awaits you at the finish. Between the start in Orléans or Tours and the finish in Saint Nazaire on the Atlantic coast, some of France's most magnificent castles are strung together like pearls on a string: Villandry Castle, Saumur Castle, Chambord Castle, Chaumont Castle. The castles, stately mansions and flowering gardens make the Loire Valley the epitome of romantic France.
Here you can cycle in true royal style in the footsteps of France's glorious past. Whether you choose the 8-day variant from Tours or the 10-day variant from Orléans, the Loire is your constant companion. One of the last unregulated rivers in Europe takes you through vineyards, orchards, small villages and historic cities like Chinon and Nantes. “La Grande Finale” of this cycle tour is the sea, where the Loire flows into the Atlantic.
Would you like to learn more about the royal residences for which the Loire Valley is famous and dive even deeper into the history of France? Then we recommend our round trip "Castles of the Loire" from/to Tours.
Cycle tour destination No. 3: Chiemgau
The Chiemgau is both a trend destination and a classic. Because the lovely landscape in the south-east of Bavaria simply enchants everyone. In addition to our cycle tours from the Chiemsee to the Königssee, which have been popular for many years, and the Chiemsee Tour Based in One Hotel, we have a new dream tour for you in 2022 with Chiemgau Highlights. We are sure you will love this cycle tour!
The gently undulating route with few steep climbs takes you from the beautiful Chiemsee past magnificent mountain panoramas as a natural backdrop into the Berchtesgadener Land. Cosy Bavarian towns such as Reit im Winkl, Berchtesgaden or Laufen an der Salzach act as stage destinations. A stopover in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Salzburg is also on the itinerary. And everywhere you go, there are idyllic beer gardens, places for swimming and boating and lush meadows that invite you to picnic. Oh, simply wonderful!
Cycle tour destination no. 4: South Tyrol
Also an absolute classic destination for cycling holidaymakers and always on trend - South Tyrol. There is hardly any other region in Europe where you can combine cycling and enjoyment so wonderfully. In South Tyrol, the best of nature and culinary delights that Italy and Austria have to offer merge into a perfect holiday experience. With around 300 days of sunshine a year, you can cycle here on the sunny side of the Alps. Immerse yourself in a fascinating mix of rugged Dolomite cliffs and gentle vineyards, mighty peaks and lovely orchards, alpine mountain villages and Mediterranean cities like Merano and Bolzano. In South Tyrol you will experience your own personal feast for the senses, entirely at your own pace. Would you like to learn more about the regional delicacies of the region such as knödel (dumplings), Schlutzkrapfen (similar to ravioli) or South Tyrolean apple pie? Then get an appetite for your next holiday in our blog post "A culinary cycle tour through South Tyrol".
Many of our South Tyrol cycle tours start at the Reschensee. Who doesn't know the impressive pictures of the church tower sticking out from the middle of the lake, the landmark of Vinschgau? From here, for example, you can cycle all the way to Lake Garda.
