Cycling group at Giselakai in Salzburg

The five-day cycling journey from Krimml to Salzburg combines athletic challenges with a brief escape from everyday life. The Hohe Tauern not only lends its name to the Tauern Cycle Path but also shape the unique panoramas amidst snow-covered peaks and picturesque valleys. Revel in the splendid views from your bike and take intermittent breaks at the numerous scenic and cultural landmarks along the way.

Visit the famous waterfalls in Krimml, considered the largest in Europe and the fifth-highest in the world. The first stage of your bike journey is adorned with magnificent mountain panoramas and picturesque villages. Upon reaching Kaprun, visiting the high mountain reservoirs is highly recommended.

On day 3, the route takes you through Maishofen, Maria Alm, and Saalfelden to Lofer. With views of the Steinerne Meer, through the impressive Seisenberg Gorge and the fascinating Lamprechtshöhle, you can expect one breathtaking natural backdrop after another. The final stage is dedicated to the beautiful Saalachtal, with the added delight of a detour to the Bavarian town of Bad Reichenhall. Shortly thereafter, you'll reach Salzburg, known for its unique charm that never fails to enchant!

  • Bathing pleasure in Lake Zell: On hot summer days, the sparkling waters of Lake Zell beckon for a refreshing dip. In addition to a revitalizing swim, the lake is also well-known and popular for its water sports activities. How about trying sailing, windsurfing, or a session of stand-up paddling?
  • Lamprechtsofen - The Lamprechtshöhle near Weißbach: Close to Lofer, the Lamprechtshöhle boasts one of the most extensive cave systems in Europe. After the discovery of an additional cave entrance, it is even considered the world's largest connected-cave. At the entrance to the cave, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy excellent refreshments.
  • Cultural enjoyment in the festival city of Salzburg: After your sports activities, indulge in culture and cuisine in Salzburg. Explore the Old Town with its bustling Getreidegasse and magnificent cathedral on a leisurely stroll. Rustic taverns, charming restaurants, and traditional cafes await your visit – don't even try to resist Salzburg's culinary delights!

Despite the towering mountain ranges flanking the Tauern Cycle Path, the route is predominantly flat or gently rolling. Skilled cyclists will navigate the occasional short inclines with ease. Over the course of the three cycling stages, you will traverse a total of 160 kilometers. There's no need to concern yourself with your luggage as the on-site Eurobike team will handle its transport between accommodations.
