Tauern Cycle Path, Salzburg - Zell am See
Von Salzburg nach Zell am See.

Arrival in Salzburg
Arrival in the culturally rich city of Mozart. Take time for a stroll through the old town and visit the Mozart Birthplace.
You follow the course of the Salzach river and soon reach Hallein. The salt worlds, which have been shut down since 1989, can be visited in the show mine. For the sporty, a trip to the romantic Bluntautal is worthwhile. In your stage destination Golling you should plan enough time to visit the waterfall worth seeing.
On today’s stage you cycle first to Werfen, where the castle Hohenwerfen sits high above the Salzach. The famous Ice Giants World is also worth a visit. In Bischofshofen you can admire the ski jumping hill, on which the final of the four-jump-tournament is held every year. In St. Johann there is the well-known Liechtenstein Gorge, a huge natural spectacle with a 50 m high waterfall at the end of the gorge.
By bicycle you can quickly reach Bruck on the Glocknerstraße. From the beginning of July, postal buses will climb the Hochalpenstraße to the 3,797 m high Großglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. For the sporty cyclists, a tour of Lake Zell is also recommended, and the cozy ones can use it for a refreshing cooling down. Just a short stretch and you have already reached your stage goal with Kaprun. There you have excellent bus connections to the high mountain reservoirs.

Tour character
The Tauern bike path is well signposted all the way along. The route leads through quiet and paved paths and country roads. Sometimes you will have to cycle on busier sections. There are a few short sections where you have to cycle on unpaved paths. The quality of the trail can be described as very good for the vast majority of it. There are hardly any uphill sections in this version of the tour and therefore it is also suitable for families with children.
