Cyclist among vineyards in the evening atmosphere

Alsace captivates with its enchanting vineyards, charming villages like Riquewihr and Eguisheim adorned with half-timbered houses and blooming gardens. Cities such as Strasbourg and Colmar showcase a rich cultural legacy and historic architecture. The gently rolling terrain provides stunning vistas and a range of cycling routes catering to both leisurely riders and enthusiasts. Come experience it firsthand!

Experience the essence of French savoir-vivre in Strasbourg, embracing cultural monuments, culinary delights, and delightful company. Begin your journey by crossing into Germany during the first stage, cycling through the Rhine forest to Ettenheim, and continuing onward to the capital of Breisgau: Freiburg.

Returning to France, you'll traverse charming vineyards and villages that beckon for a pause. Colmar offers a beautiful old town, while Riquewihr invites you to savor fine wines. You'll journey alongside picturesque wine-growing villages, treated to splendid vistas of the Vosges mountains. The concluding leg guides you from Obernai back to Strasbourg, where you can once more relish the charms of the "European capital"!

  • French esprit in Strasbourg: The city captivates with its unique blend of historical charm and contemporary vibrancy. The old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, enchants with the imposing Strasbourg Cathedral, winding alleyways and picturesque half-timbered houses. Strasbourg is also the seat of the European Parliament, which gives the city a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
  • The view of Freiburg from the Schlossberg: The city, intersected by the renowned Bächle, will captivate you from the start. The imposing Freiburg Minster, a Gothic architectural masterpiece, dominates the skyline - though the best view awaits from Schlossberg. This lively university town is defined by its laid-back atmosphere, sunny climate, and vibrant cultural scene.
  • The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Neuf-Brisach: The remarkable fortified city, designed by the renowned military architect Vauban, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. Its octagonal layout is surrounded by a star-shaped fortification. The well-preserved defensive structures and clear, geometric cityscape provide fascinating glimpses into the engineering prowess of that era.

Alsace blends nature and culture to offer an unforgettable experience. The stages range from 35 to 60 kilometers, making them very manageable overall. While the riverside route is flat, the vineyard route is more hilly. Our team will provide you with thorough documentation and route information at the beginning of your tour.

Vive la France! A cycling vacation in France uniquely combines the activity on two wheels with the enjoyment of life – whether in Brittany, Normandy, or indeed in Alsace.

Itinerary at a glance

Arrival in Strasbourg and an opportunity for individual free sightseeing. Get to know the Gothic cathedral and the historic centre, which has been declared a World Heritage Site.

From Strasbourg, you cross the magnificent "Jardin des Deux Rives" and reach Kehl, where your route begins on the German bank of the Rhine. An easy and completely flat stage where you can discover the Rhine forest and the pretty villages along the Rhine.

Pleasant cycle paths took you through charming villages to Riegel and Emmendigen. A few more kilometres through the Landwasser forest and you will reach the city of Freiburg, capital of the Breisgau region. From the top of the Schlossberg you can watch the sunset over the roofs of the city and enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Vosges Mountains.

Take the "Breisgau Cycle Path" to the border town of Breisach. You can admire the cathedral, the town centre and the picturesque streets. On the French side, immerse yourself in the history of the 17th and 18th centuries by visiting Neuf-Brisach, the stronghold of Vauban, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Finally, you will reach Colmar, the capital of Alsatian wines. Be sure to stroll through the excellently preserved old town and visit the Unterlinden Museum, which houses the Issenheim Altar, a masterpiece of Western art.

After a last walk through the medieval streets, you leave Colmar for the vineyards. During the day, you will discover beautiful villages: Eguisheim, Turckheim, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr. These pearls of the wine route bask among the vineyards of the Grands Crus of Alsace.

Today, there are still some very pretty villages and a route that winds between the Vosges and the vineyards, on a gentle cycle path far from any traffic to take full advantage of the exceptional panorama. You will pass through Hunawihr, Ribeauville and Bergheim, recently voted "Village préféré des Francais", before arriving in Andlau, Barr or Obernai.

In Rosheim, discover the church of Saints-Pierre-et-Paul, one of the jewels of Alsatian Romanesque architecture. In Molsheim, you will come across the Bruche Canal cycle path, which will take you to the heart of Strasbourg. The reunion with the European capital, its art of living and gastronomy will round off your stay in style.
