Arrival in Rostock
You start this cycle tour in the old Hanseatic town of Rostock. Arrive early to have enough time to get to know the town. Watch the huge cruise ships coming into Rostock harbour. You might also like to visit the maritime museum, Germany's biggest floating museum!
Today, the route takes you to your actual holiday destination, the Fischland-Darss peninsula! Just after you've set off you should still stop in Warnemünde and climb the 135 steps up the lighthouse. At the top you have wonderful views of the entire region. Via Graal-Müritz you cycle to Wustrow, today's destination.
You have a lot of time to explore the peninsula Fischland-Darss. The sea, the expansive fine sandy beach, the fresh Baltic sea air - a threesome you just can't refuse. Amber features here in this area. If you're lucky you'll find some between the roots of the trees on the beach. Here it is known as the "gold of the north".
Discover Darss woods and the romantic of the wild west beach, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. From Prerow it can only be reached by foot, by bike or by horse-drawn carriage. Next you take a Bodden round trip starting in Prerow. The still water here is in beautiful contrast to the rough beauty of the west beach.
Today you cycle along the southern Darss at the edge of the Bodden. At the east end of the Fischland- Darss peninsula, you have reached your destination - Zingst. Discover the many thatched houses in this pretty place, all with colourfully painted and decorated doors. The style here is called the Darss door. You cross to the former Swedish town of Barth by boat.
Look forward to the final destination of your tour: the three towers of the Hanseatic town of Stralsund beckon from afar. Its former importance as a trading town can still be seen today. Let your evening come to a pleasant end in the old town, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site because it has been so beautifully preserved.
In the morning, you take the ferry to Hiddensee Island, where you go on a trip by bike to the 28-m high lighthouse called "Leuchtfeuer Dornbusch", or simply spend a day swimming at the beach. In the afternoon, a ferry takes you back to Stralsund.
