Cycle break on the Weser

The Weser River originates near Hann. Münden, meanders through low mountain ranges, and eventually flows into the North Sea. Traveling along the Weser Cycle Path offers a journey through enchanting landscapes, historic towns, and picturesque villages. Over five days, you'll traverse the section from its source to Minden, indulging in beautiful nature, delectable cuisine, and the distinctive half-timbered architecture of the region.

Your cycling adventure begins in the captivating town of Hann. Münden, renowned as the heart of the Weser Renaissance. Pedaling from the Weser rock, your journey leads to Bad Karlshafen, with a visit to the Bursfelde Monastery along the route. The second leg guides you to Holzminden, where you can explore the Fürstenberg Porcelain Manufactory and the Hanseatic town of Höxter en route.

On day 4, you'll soon arrive at the magnificent Corvey Castle, and in Bodenwerder, you're bound to encounter the tales of the infamous Baron von Münchhausen. Your final destination for the day is Hameln, renowned for its beautiful old town and the legend of the Pied Piper. The last stretch of the route to Minden offers a special natural spectacle. At Porta Westfalica, the Weser transitions into the German lowlands—take a break along the way to admire this transition from the low mountain range.

  • The buildings of the Weser Renaissance: Magnificent half-timbered houses, castles, and churches characterize this architectural style, which emerged in the 16th and 17th centuries. The town hall in Hann. Münden is one of the characteristic buildings of this style.
  • Baroque splendor and cultural significance of Corvey Castle: The UNESCO World Heritage Site near Höxter was formerly a Benedictine abbey. The castle grounds boast a magnificent library, an impressive church, and picturesque gardens. The cultural richness of Corvey Castle mirrors the history and grandeur of bygone eras.
  • Medieval flair and fairytale backdrops: Hamelin is renowned for the legendary tale of the "Pied Piper of Hamelin." The quaint old town, adorned with half-timbered houses, the Wedding House, and the Pied Piper's House, evokes a sense of stepping back in time. With its historic town center, Weser promenade, and delightful ambiance, Hamelin is a captivating destination.

The Weser Cycle Path provides a gentle route without any steep gradients to worry about. The stages, ranging from 35 to 70 kilometers in length, can typically be tailored to suit your preferences. Either way, you'll have ample time to savor the highlights along the route. So, pack your bags and join us for a refreshing escape from everyday life!
