‘Hoi!’ That’s the greeting of South Tyrol! Having a home away from home on a cycling holiday that you can come back to every evening? That’s easy with Eurobike! During the tour through South Tyrol, you sleep in a 4-star hotel every evening. And still: you get to know the beauty of South Tyrol well during your cycling holiday. For example, the pretty cities of Merano, Trento or Bolzano with their lively atmosphere. Or the lakes like the Kaltern and the Mintiggler See, framed by an impressive mountain panorama.

Bolzano will soon feel like home as you return here every day. But it’s not only Bolzano that will enchant you on a cycling holiday without luggage. The daily excursions around the area make the trip unforgettable. In the region where the German and Italian language are slowly mixing, nature and culture have a lot to offer. Mountain views, culinary delights and natural spectacles are strung together to make South Tyrol one of the most beautiful cycling destinations.

  • Delicious South Tyrol: From wine and fruit on Lake Caldaro to a cappuccino on Trento Cathedral Square – indulgence in South Tyrol is certainly not difficult!
  •  4-star hotel Scala Stiegl: The hotel is located in the heart of Bolzano and awaits you with a little bit of comfort. During the tour through South Tyrol, you always return to your hotel so can enjoy the amenities, such as the park and pool to the full!
  • Romantic Laubengasse in Bolzano: The state capital of South Tyrol is known for its Laubengasse in the heart of the old town. Stroll through the traditional street – and you might find a nice souvenir of your cycling holiday.

You move into the hotel in Bolzano and receive your rental bikes from Eurobike, of course adapted to your needs. Eurobike tip: Use the first day to explore Bolzano! Over the next days there will be varied tours between 30 and 65 kilometres long. The routes are mostly flat and lead downhill, often through vineyards.

Itinerary at a glance

You will stay in a chic hotel in the center of Bolzano and get to know a piece of South Tyrol every day. In the climatic health resort Merano, you stroll along the promenade and the Lake Montiggler lakes invite you to swim - also taste the fruity wines!

Tour information meeting and bike fitting. We recommend taking a walk through the capital city of South Tyrol.

From Bolzano, you will cycle along the river Isarco and then on a newly opened cycle path to Merano. The spa town at the junction of the rivers Passer and Adige is waiting for you with its many attractions (ancient fortress, Tappeiner way, spa promenade, Post Bridge …). Your way back will lead you via Lana (Schnatterpeck Altar), through orchards and vineyards, to Appiano and back to your hotel.

You will cycle on the bike path past the castle Sigmundskron (Messner Mountain Museum) and continue to Appiano with fantastic views across the valley to Lake Caldaro. You will find a huge number of grapes and apples along the way. Later, you will return through the nature reserve Lake Montiggler (possibilities for swimming!) and slightly uphill to Bolzano.

Today, you will ride your bike southwards on the Adige bike path from South Tyrol, via Salorno, into the Trentino area. Immediately after leaving the German-speaking part of Italy behind you, you will get the chance to try some wonderful pasta dishes (included in the tour package price). Trento’s picturesque old town with its cathedral, numerous palaces, the Castello del Buonconsiglio, and of course cosy cafes and colourful shops is your final destination today. Return transfer by train to Bolzano.

The day starts with a train journey to Bressanone. The old cathedral town is beautifully located in the middle of vineyards. You should definitely visit the picturesque old town with its arcades and cathedral. On your way back to Bolzano, you will come across the medieval town of Chiusa with the monastery Säben. Then, you will cycle downhill on an old railway line which was transformed into a beautiful bike path.

The panoramic cable car will take you up to 1,221 metres of altitude to Upper Bolzano. By bike (or alternatively by narrow gauge railway) you will get to Lake Wolfsgrubensee and further to Klobenstein. From there, it is only a short distance to the unique earth pillars, a fantastic natural phenomenon. Then you will return to Upper Bolzano and take the cable car back down to the valley. Alternatively, you can descent from Klobenstein to the Isarco valley.
