The sunny island in the Mediterranean

Nissi Beach with its islands and crystal clear sea

With its fantastic beaches and bays, shimmering Mediterranean waters, groves teeming with lemon and almond trees, and rich historical sights, Cyprus is a splendid destination. At Eurobike, we seamlessly blend swimming and leisure with exhilarating cycling stages. Join us on an eight-day vacation that takes you to the Turkish part of the island, specifically to the Karpas Peninsula.

Your vacation begins with an overnight stay in the historic center of Famagusta, conveniently located within walking distance of the beach. The first stage is filled with historical highlights, including the royal tombs, Barnabas Monastery, and the ancient ruins of Salamis. Cycling from Bogaz, you'll traverse quaint villages and olive groves en route to Kuruova. Along the south coast, you'll encounter picturesque beaches such as Golden Beach, known as a nesting ground for sea turtles.

Make a stop at the historic Apostolos Monastery at Cape Andreas before continuing your route to your next overnight stay in Dipkarpaz. Day 6 offers a loop tour along the north coast towards Aphendrika. On the final day of the stage to Agios Thyrsos, beautiful natural landscapes alternate with historical and cultural sites. Take advantage of one last swim before your vacation draws to a close.

  • The imposing royal tombs are monumental rock tombs carved out of the soft limestone on the slopes near Paphos. They were built for high-ranking figures of ancient Cypriot society and are richly decorated with architectural details. Admire the columns, frescoes and sculptures!
  • Wild donkeys and turtles at Golden Beach: The extensive golden sandy beach is renowned for its turquoise, crystal-clear waters and pristine, untouched surroundings. It serves as a vital nesting ground for sea turtles, particularly the loggerhead turtle. Golden Beach provides a distinctive nature encounter away from the bustling tourist hubs - immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring coastal scenery and wildlife firsthand!
  • Heavenly tranquillity at Cape Andreas: The monastery situated on the northeastern tip of the island dates back to the 10th century, holding profound spiritual significance and historical importance. Alongside the monastery, you'll find a quaint small church and a picturesque fountain. The site boasts a stunning backdrop, characterized by steep cliffs overlooking the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean.

The stunning landscape of the Cypriot peninsula offers magnificent views during your cycling stages, predominantly on flat terrain. Hotels are frequently situated near the beach, some even boasting private beach access, allowing you to take refreshing swims in the sea to cool off after your ride.

With the Mediterranean as your picturesque companion while cycling, we offer tour options to suit every preference and destination. In addition to our cycling tours in Cyprus, you can experience the blend of nature and culture on a cycling vacation in Greece, indulge in dolce vita while cycling in Italy, and enjoy a variety of island hopping and beach fun during our cycle tours in Croatia.

Itinerary at a glance

Day
01
Arrival in Famagusta

On your first stage you will cycle to the world-famous royal tombs and to Saint Barnabas monastery. After that, you will discover the Roman town of Salamis. The combination of ruins, sand dunes and seascape is very scenic. In spring time the area is covered by the yellow blossoms of the acacia bushes the British planted in the old times. Then, you cycle to the church of Panagia in Iskele, where you can admire its beautiful Byzantine frescoes. Your day will end in Bogaz, which is well-known for its outstanding seafood restaurants.

Today you will cycle across the Karpas peninsula. Olive, carob and fig trees edge the wayside. The traditional villages are adorned with bougainvilleas, hibiscus and jasmin. Shady coffee houses invite you for a rest. Your final destination, the hotel Nitovikla, is on the whole peninsula famous because of its great Cyprian kitchen.

Today you will start cycling close to the sea, before reaching the most exposed village on the peninsula, Dipkarpaz. It includes many different guesthouses with small garden and fields. In this Arcadian area are many things to visit.

Today you will cycle along the southern coast. Your first destination is a long paradisiacal sandy beach - one of the few areas in the Mediterranean Sea, where the Caretta-Caretta and the Green Turtle can still lay their eggs. Wild donkeys also live in this area, which you might see on your way to Cap Andreas with its lonesome monastery. Today you will stay overnight in a beach hotel on the southern coast.

Probably you will cycle again to the ‘Turtle Beach’ and spend a day on the beach (approx. 50 km).

Before cycling next to the northern coast to Agios Thyrsos, we recommend a side trip to the basilica Agios Philon with its antique harbour and further on to Aphrendrika. In this area you will just find a few sheepherder lodges.
