Exterior view MS SE-Manon

From the City on the three rivers to the Danube metropolis: this journey not only boasts a captivating route but also offers a unique accommodation experience. Your overnight stay will be aboard the MS SE-Manon. The Danube Cycle Path ranks among our most sought-after destinations, with the stretch between Passau and Vienna being particularly remarkable. Along the way, you'll traverse the picturesque Danube valley, marvel at the Schlögener Schlinge, explore Melk Abbey, cycle through the vineyards of the Wachau, and ultimately arrive in the Austrian capital. Don't forget to indulge in some Linzer Torte, Wachau apricot dumplings, or Sacher Torte along the way - always save room for something sweet!

In Passau, you'll embark on the MS SE-Manon, your accommodation for the next seven nights. The ship will initially cruise to Engelhartszell, where you'll commence the first cycling stage to Untermühl the following morning. Don't forget to include a stop at the Schlögener Schlinge! While on board, you'll pass through Linz and witness the historic Mauthausen concentration camp memorial, while your cycling journey will lead you to Grein and Melk Abbey.

You'll arrive in Vienna via Klosterneuburg, where you can explore at your leisure on your rest day. On the return journey, the Wachau, renowned for its wine and apricot-growing, awaits as another scenic highlight on the itinerary. The MS SE-Manon will bring you back to Passau overnight.

  • The three-river city of Passau: You can easily spot it from the Veste Oberhaus or the Mariahilf monastery - the meeting point of the green Inn, the black Ilz, and the blue Danube. Life along the three rivers exudes an almost Venetian flair, and wandering through the alleyways of the old town, you can't help but feel like you're in Italy.
  • The impressive Benedictine Abbey of Melk: The monastery, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, majestically overlooks the Danube. Apart from offering a breathtaking view of the Wachau, the monastery enthralls visitors with its magnificent architecture and exceptional library.
  • A day in the world's most liveable city: Vienna has been honored with this title many times - revel in its historical ambiance, expansive green spaces, and modern flair during your visit. Countless architectural marvels line the Ringstrasse, from the opera house to the town hall. The Prater offers entertainment nearly round the clock, while Schönbrunn Palace is encircled by vast gardens offering splendid views from the Gloriette.

During your eight-day journey along the Danube Cycle Path, you'll experience five cycling stages, with one day reserved for sightseeing in Vienna. The leisurely route caters to pleasure cyclists, and if you're in the mood for relaxation, the premium ship MS SE-Manon features a wellness area where you can unwind. On hot summer days, you can even cool off in the onboard swimming pool.

Eurobike's bike and boat tours blend the best of both worlds. Cycling activity meets relaxation on board - you'll be treated to culinary delights and have the flexibility to choose whether to tackle all the stages or simply lounge on the deck.

Itinerary at a glance

Arrival in the "Three River City". Passau attracts many with the world's greatest church organ at the Stephansdom and its charming Old Town. Embarkation will be around 4:00 pm, departure around 7 pm. Enjoy your first dinner on board and an evening sail to Engelhartszell.

The day starts in Engelhartszell (the only Trappist monastery in Austria), where we head towards the "Great Loop" - one of the most beautiful and original sectors of the Danube. Your cycling will encounter small villages and cosy must-see taverns. You'll board again in Untermühl. Then, you "sail into the night" towards Bratislava.

Shipping to Mauthausen. You have the possibility to visit the memorial-place KZ-Mauthausen. The Celtic town Mitterkirchen gives you an insight of the past. The route continues through the fertile area of the Machland region. The destination of the day's stage is the charming town of Grein. Also called “the pearl of the Strudengau” due to its idyllic location. Worth a visit in Grein: the impressive Castle of Greinburg.

Today's stage is marked by a diverse landscape. At the beginning, there is the Strudengau – a narrow point of the Danube which used to be notorious amongst skippers. The valley expands from Persenbeug and the bike tour leads you further to Melk with its gorgeous baroque monastery of the Benedictine brethren. On deck, you enjoy the sunset and the beautiful evening illumination of the Wachau. At night shipping to Tulln, famous for its numerous market gardens where the famous

Right in front of Vienna's entrance, embedded in a breathtaking landscape, the monastery of Klosterneuburg is situated. You can already see the cupola of this 900-year-old baroque building from a distance. "Kahlenbergerdorf" with it's wine taverns is definitely worth a visit. After a stroll through the vineyards, you can enjoy the panoramic view over Vienna.

You should be sure to see the most famous places of interest like the St. Stephens Cathedral and the Hofburg, the gorgeous boulevard "Ringstraβe" with the Burgtheater, the State Opera House or the town hall that takes you back to the past. Take your time in the afternoon to stroll or visit one of the famous Viennese coffee bars. In the night shipping to Rossatz or Dürnstein.

Your last biking day is a special highlight! Amidst small dreamy villages, apricot trees, vineyards, castles, monasteries and ruins, this gentle hilly landscape enchants everybody. A powerful ruin looms above the small Baroque town of Dürnstein, while the blue tower of the monastery church is a landmark of Wachau. In the evening farewell dinner and cocktail.

Every journey draws to an end. Arrival in Passau is about 11 am, disembarkation half an hour later.
