River Adige at Trento

Certainly, you're probably already feeling the holiday vibes as you read about the destination of this tour. Merano not only offers many attractions but also boasts an interesting history and numerous cultural sites. Lake Garda dazzles with its stunning scenery and a wide range of recreational possibilities. Both are underpinned by the Mediterranean flair, which becomes particularly palpable when you gaze at the stunning panoramas, savor an Aperol Spritz at the bar, or indulge in some people-watching at the Piazza. In between, you can look forward to diverse cycling stages for a relaxing break from your daily routine.

Note: This tour is also available as a family tour in South Tyrol.

Take a leisurely walk along Merano's promenade, just as Empress Sissi once did, or indulge in a soothing spa massage. Your initial leg of the journey spans around 45 kilometers to Bolzano, guiding you through a scenic landscape of vineyards and orchards. Along the way, you'll also have the chance to explore Sigmundskron Castle, where the Messner Mountain Museum awaits.

Day 3 brings you the longest stretch of your journey, leading you to the beautiful old town of Trento. You've left behind the German-speaking part of South Tyrol, and the unmistakable Mediterranean atmosphere surrounds you. Take a break on the final leg in Rovereto and explore the historic city center before you cover the last kilometers toward Lake Garda. At Passo San Giovanni, you'll encounter a slight incline, and then you'll cycle with a view of the lake to reach your destination.

  • Enjoy a break at Waltherplatz in Bolzano: In the midst of the beautifully landscaped Piazza, a statue of its namesake, Walther von der Vogelweide, stands proudly. Waltherplatz is a popular meeting place adorned with bars, cafes, and restaurants.
  • The historical Trento: The northern Italian city boasts a history spanning over 2,000 years. The narrow streets of the old town are brimming with art and culture. Taking a photo in front of the Neptune Fountain is an absolute must, and we highly recommend the ascent to the Castello del Buonconsiglio as well.
  • Pistachio ice cream on Lake Garda: After covering many kilometers, let us treat you to a scoop of pistachio ice cream. The Gelateria Bologna in Mori is renowned not only for its top-notch gelato but also for its charming Art Nouveau villa. Now, you're just a few kilometers away from your destination and the sparkling waters of Lake Garda.

Throughout this journey, you'll cover approximately 160 kilometers. On a cycling tour, you have the opportunity to experience your vacation destination in a truly unique way. You'll uncover hidden gems, traverse the landscape at a leisurely pace, and gain insight into the local way of life, offering a special and immersive experience. With Eurobike, cycling for pleasure means that you still have plenty of time for all of this in addition to the stages. Your luggage will then be waiting for you at the next overnight stop.

Via Lana (Schnatterpeck altar) and through numerous orchards and vineyards in the area of the South Tyrolian wine route, past several well-fortified castles, palaces and ruins onwards to Appiano and along the base of Sigmundskron castle (Messner-Mountain Museum) to Bolzano (pergolas, ‘Ötzi’ museum).

Leaving Bolzano, the cyclists are accompanied by the Isarco river, then soon the Adige river is reached and the wonderful cycle path leads through the orchards to Salurn, where the German-speaking South Tyrol ends. Now the vines of the strong red wine "Teroldego" accompany you all the way to the old town of Trento, which is well worth seeing.

Hotel (example): Grand Hotel

Shortly after the old Tyrolian border town of Rovereto, our cycling tour leaves the Adige valley. In Mori you will taste the world-famous pistachio ice-cream in the Gelateria Bologna. After the only ascent worth mentioning (approx. 150 m) over the small San Giovanni pass, the path leads downhill along the lake towards Torbole. The cycle tour either ends in Riva or Torbole.
