From the Dolomites to the Carinthian Lakes
Family-friendly cycle tour along the Drau River through Austria's scenic valleys. Well-maintained, signposted paths with mostly flat terrain, daily stages of 35-45 km. Highlights include the Lienz Dolomites, water adventure parks in Dellach and Greifenburg, historic castles and ruins, Lake Ossiacher See and Lake Faaker See. Train ride from Lienz to San Candido included. Accommodation in 3*** and 4**** hotels with breakfast, luggage transfer, and digital navigation.
Come along and discover the sunniest path in Austria with your entire family during our cycling holiday in Carinthia! You start in San Candido, situated at the Italian border, which is the start of the Drau-cycle path. Leisurely you proceed always downhill along the river Drau through East Tyrol to Lienz, onwards to Spittal and finally to Villach. The beautiful towns along this marvellously designed cycle path offer Southern flair and countless sun hours. So that it does not get too hot for you, there are countless natural lakes for swimming, adventure outdoor pools and bathing spots situated directly en route to cool off.
You cycle mostly on very well-maintained and throughout signposted cycle paths with good road conditions, running mostly directly along the Drau riverbank. In sections also on side roads with very little traffic. Routes can be cut short by train rides.
The cycling stages are between 35 and 45 km long, the topography is mostly flat, one stage is slightly hilly. Due to the length of the daily stages, we recommend that children have a good basic level of fitness, good cycling skills and safety in traffic.
Child prices valid when staying in a room with 2 full-paying adults. Fee for children under the age of 6 (i.e. child’s bed/cot) payable on site.
