Route overview

Medium

The Rhine Cycle Route, part of the EuroVelo network as EV15, promises unforgettable cycling adventures across almost 1,320 kilometres through Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France and the Netherlands. The majestic Rhine rises in the Swiss Alps at Lake Toma in the canton of Graubünden, and is officially called the Rhine only from Chur, where the Vorderrhein and Hinterrhein join. From there, the route takes you over the Alps and along Lake Constance, through the romantic Rhine Valley, past Cologne, and on to Rotterdam, where the river finally meets the North Sea. Much of the path runs along both banks of the river, with excellent signage, smooth surfaces, and frequent uninterrupted views of the water. Along the way, cyclists can enjoy ever-changing landscapes, charming historic towns, and the renowned hospitality of the people who call the Rhine their home.
