Danish Baltic Sea
Cycle tour Little Belt.

Arrival in Flensburg
Most of German rum imports used to be handled through Flensburg, but it is better known as the seat of a famous mailorder catalogue and where the Flensburg Point System is managed – points that can be deducted from driving licenses for reckless driving! You must visit the harbour and see its lovely old warehouses and the museum shipyard.
For your first bike tour you can decide whether to cycle the direct route going North or if you want to follow the somewhat longer Ox Cycle Route, an old trade route between Germany and Denmark. Both routes briefly meet in the village of Kliplev, where a visit to the former pilgrimage church from the 15th century is worthwhile. Over open fields you cycle on to Åbenrå with its long beach and old seaport.
Today's first destination is Haderslev. The medieval old town on the Hadersleven dam entices you with cosy cafés and a walk along the reservoir, which dates back to the Middle Ages. Back on your bike, you can choose between two routes: You can take a shorter domestic route or challenge yourself by following the Baltic Sea Cycle Path, the Østersøruten, to the coast, passing the small coast town of Hejlsminde, which is definetly worth a visit, before you reach Christiansfeld.
You can choose between two varied routes that take you across fields and forests or along the coast to Kolding. There you are already greeted from afar by Koldinghus Castle, which towers high above the town. Past Kolding Fjord and across Skærbæk you cross the Little Belt on Lillebæltsbroen, a road and railway bridge, just before you reach Middelfart, your destination for today.
The island of Funen has the largest population of harbour porpoises and it is around Middelfart that they are most frequently sighted. So keep your eyes open on today's trip, and the best place to do this is of course the beach, for example in the small town of Føns. Continue through the harbour town of Assens and the atmospheric fishing village of Torø Huse to Ebberup. because your hotel in Ebberup is far out of town, dinner at the hotel is included for tonight!
At the start of your tour you can take a round tour over the Helnæs peninsula with its picturesque nature and Stone Age settlements. Back on the mainland it gets a bit more hilly until you reach Fåborg. With its narrow, cobbled streets, the town is one of the oldest and most idyllic small towns in Denmark. In Bøjden you board the ferry to the island of Als and then cycle via the harbour town of Høruphav to Sønderborg.
Your last cycle tour takes you first to Gråsten. The small village with the castle of the same name is mainly known as the summer residence of the royal family. Along the Flensburg Fjord, past magnificent beaches, you cross the Danish-German border and soon cycle back into Flensburg.
