Meadows, cars and world culture
Self-guided cycle tour along the Danube from Donauwörth to Passau through Bavaria. The flat route follows mostly asphalted paths through the Danube floodplains, visiting historic cities including Ingolstadt, Regensburg (UNESCO World Heritage), and Straubing. Highlights include the Weltenburg monastery with boat trip to Kelheim, the Kuchlbauer Hundertwasser brewery in Abensberg, and the three-rivers city of Passau. Daily distances average 35-65 km on easy terrain.
The Bavarian Danube is a place where a cyclist's heart can smile: on the way, you will reach the northernmost point of the Danube, in Regensburg, an incomparable world cultural heritage attracts visitors to the old town, and in Passau, the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers is impressive. Charming hilly landscapes, almost untouched floodplains and interesting cities make this bike tour a real experience.
To a large extent the route is flat and along asphalt paths, some parts of the path run along compressed nature paths.
