Your vacation begins in the stunning town of Constance, where both the Sea Life Center and the old town captivate visitors of all ages. The initial leg of your journey combines biking and boating, leading you to Unteruhldingen. The intriguing pile dwellings there are a must-see. On day 3, you'll embark on another boat excursion before cycling from Meersburg to Friedrichshafen along the route.

Passing through Lindau and Bregenz, you'll enter Switzerland and stay overnight in Rorschach or Arbon. The Swiss shoreline of Lake Constance provides superb swimming areas, and you can take a leisurely walk along the harbor promenade in Romanshorn before completing the final stretch back to Constance.

  • Explore the captivating underwater world at the Sea Life Center: With 3,000 animals and interactive exhibits, visitors gain captivating insights into the underwater realm. A standout feature is the walk-through tunnel, providing a close-up encounter with sharks and other marine creatures.
  • Magnificent views from the Pfänder: The Pfänderbahn in Bregenz stands as one of Austria's oldest cable cars. The stunning panorama of Lake Constance and the Alps is truly magnificent. Hiking trails, an animal park, and charming restaurants beckon visitors to enjoy a leisurely stay atop the mountain.
  • Fascinating technology awaits at the Zeppelin Museum: Marvel at authentic parts of zeppelins, uncover historical photographs and models—the history of airship travel ignites inspiration in visitors of all ages!

Apart from a few kilometers, the entire shoreline of Lake Constance is accessible via cycle paths and roads. The region is mostly flat, and the 25 to 50-kilometer stages allow ample time to enjoy playgrounds and swimming spots. On certain days, routes can be shortened or supplemented with bus rides. Various activities are included in the tour package, such as admission to the Pfahlbaumuseum, Ravensburger Spieleland, or a ride on the Pfänderbahn.

Whether you're a family, a leisure cyclist, or a sports enthusiast, the Lake Constance cycle path offers routes suitable for all preferences and skill levels. Revel in the vast expanse of the shimmering lake, the scenic landscapes, and the abundant leisure activities and attractions.

Itinerary at a glance

At Lake Constance, you can enjoy not only many swimming opportunities but also the Sea Life Center in Constance, the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, and the Ravensburger Spieleland. In between, you can relax with ice cream and local wine.

Take the opportunity to wander through Constance’s old town or visit the aquariums in the Sea Life Center and go to the Archaeological Museum.

First you cycle to Wallhausen, from where the boat takes you to the other side of the lake to Überlingen. Always along the lake you go to the monastery church Birnau, where you can enjoy a great view of the lake. In Unteruhldingen you will visit the prehistoric pile dwellings. From Meersburg the car ferry brings you back to Constance.

From Constance, take the ferry to Meersburg. Visit the castle there and let yourself be carried away into the time of the Middle Ages. Continue not far from the shore of Lake Constance to Friedrichshafen. In the Zeppelin Museum, technology enthusiasts will get their money's worth and gain insights into the history of airship travel. From the Friedrichshafen lakeside promenade you can enjoy a beautiful view of the lake and the Alps

If you have not visited the Zeppelin Museum yet, you can make up for it today. The route is not very long today. You Will cycle through expansive orchards and along easy paths until you reach Lindau. The old town is a must-see, as it is located on an island and is a heritage site.

You should take your first break in Bregenz: The cable car lifts you up to the top of Mount Pfänder above Bregenz and the Lake Constance area. On top you cannot only enjoy the view but also say hello or "Servus" like the Austrians to the animals at the petting zoo. Back on your bike you reach Höchst, where you soon cross the Swiss border, and reach Rorschach and a few kilometres further Arbon.

The last day of your tour takes you through Romanshorn which is home to Switzerland's largest harbour on Lake Constance. Now you continue on along the banks of Lake Constance back to Constance. You will frequently pass places where you can go swimming and refresh yourself in the lovely cool waters of the lake. Let your tour come to a pleasant end with a visit to the underwater world at the Sea-Life Centre in Constance.
