You start the tour in the magnificent old Hanseatic city of Lubeck which was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

You are offered splendid views of Lubeck and the Neustadt bay. On your way you pass the seaside resorts of Timmendorfer Strand and Scharbeutz and also Germany’s oldest lighthouse in Travemunde.

Along the Mecklenburg Bay to the coastal resort of Gromitz with its 400 m long pier and 8 km long sandy beach. The route continues past the village of Großenbrode to Heiligenhafen which has a beautiful old town and a remarkable salt warehouse.

Via Oldenburg, passing old mansions and ‘Knicks’, Schleswig-Holstein’s traditionally grown hedges. Through pristine nature and former salt marshes to Schonberg.

From Laboe you take the ferry to Friedrichsort. Along the fjords through the „Schwedeneck“ (the Swede‘s corner) through meadows and small forests to Eckernforde.

You cycle north via the „Schwansen“ peninsula to Kappeln, through cute little villages and the Baltic resort of Damp. Visit the great smock mill, the „Heringszaun“ (hering fence) and the harbour.

First through „Angeln“, the land between the „Schlei“ and Flensburg and further along the Flensburg fjords to the Renaissance castle in Glucksburg. From there you take the boat to Flensburg.

Flensburg, Germany’s northernmost town, situated right on the Danish border, is the perfect starting point for your cycle tour along the Baltic Sea. Once you’ve arrived, it’s well worth taking a stroll through the charming old town with its winding alleyways, historic merchant courtyards and the maritime atmosphere of this town on the fjord.

First, take the boat to Glücksburg. Here, take a look at the famous Renaissance castle – one of the most beautiful moated castles in Germany – before cycling through the tranquil town of Angeln.

You can reach the Baltic Sea resort of Damp via the Schwansen peninsula. Damp’s four-kilometre-long sandy beach offers you the chance to relax in a beach chair. The route continues through unspoilt countryside, past ancient tree-lined avenues, over rolling hills and through green forests to Eckernförde. Spend the evening at the idyllic harbour with its lovely promenade. Be sure to sample the freshly caught fish in one of the cosy restaurants.

Today’s stage takes you to the Kiel Fjord, where the Kiel Canal meets the Baltic Sea. You’ll make your first stop in Falckenstein or Friedrichsort before crossing the fjord by ferry. You’ll disembark at Laboe and continue your journey straight away by bike. Cycling along the Baltic coast of the Probstei region, you’ll pass through the well-known seaside resorts of Kalifornien and Brasilien on your way to Schönberger Strand. Your route then heads inland, where you’ll eventually reach Schönberg.

You cycle back to the Baltic Sea coast and immerse yourself in the unspoilt nature of Schleswig-Holstein. The route takes you through former salt marshes and varied landscapes, past historic manor houses and the region’s characteristic ‘Knicks’ – traditionally laid-out hedgerows that define the landscape of Schleswig-Holstein. Via Oldenburg in Holstein, you’ll eventually reach Heiligenhafen, where the fresh Baltic Sea air and the expansive beaches await you.

Today, your cycle tour continues via Großenbrode to the popular Baltic Sea resort of Grömitz. Here, the 400-metre-long pier is the perfect spot for a stroll, offering magnificent views across the Baltic Sea. On the eight-kilometre-long sandy beach, you’re sure to find a lovely spot to relax, soak up the sun or take a refreshing dip in the Baltic Sea. You’ll then cycle along the coast to Neustadt in Holstein. This charming little harbour town served, amongst other things, as the setting for the well-known TV series ‘Küstenwache’ and delights visitors with its maritime charm.

In Travemünde, you can stop off at Germany’s oldest lighthouse. The seaside resorts of Timmendorfer Strand and Scharbeutz beckon with their wonderful sandy beaches and invite you to take a refreshing dip in the cool waters of the Baltic Sea. Along the way, you’ll be treated to fantastic views of Lübeck Bay and Neustadt Bay time and again.
