Itinerary at a glance

Off the well-trodden paths, you’ll explore Campania actively by bike: secluded mountain roads, Mediterranean coastal villages, and sweeping views shape the tour. Authentic encounters, regional specialties, and the diversity of Cilento National Park make each stage a truly memorable experience.

Transfer from Paestum train station to your hotel, followed by hand-over of your rental bikes. If you arrive early, we recommend exploring the nearby temple complex.

From Paestum, the route begins across the plains, renowned for their buffalo farms, before ascending to Capaccio. In Trentinara, enjoy sweeping views of the coast and surrounding plains. The tour then winds through charming medieval villages and verdant landscapes, descending into the peaceful Calore Valley, where you’ll arrive at your agriturismo in Felitto.

In the Calore Valley, you have several options: a detour to the Castelcivita stalactite caves, the mystical cave church in Sant’ Angelo, or the abandoned village of Roscigno Vecchia. A visit to Sacco and the impressive Sammaro Canyon is also worthwhile. Along the way, forests, olive groves, and vineyards alternate, creating a varied landscape. Back at the agriturismo, the day ends on a high note with regional wine and local specialties.

The route first takes you to Laurino, where you can explore small churches, elegant palaces, and the local castle. From there, you’ll ride along quiet roads through forests to Campora and onward to Moio della Civitella, home to an ancient acropolis. Passing through Vallo della Lucania and the Byzantine monastery of Pattano, you’ll arrive in Ceraso. Back at the agriturismo, you’ll be treated to regional cuisine.

The ride to San Marco di Castellabate begins with a detour to the ruins of Velia, where you can explore its temple, baths, and the famous Porta Rosa. From there, you’ll cycle across the Alento plain to the coast. Along the scenic route, you’ll pass through Pioppi and Acciaroli, take breaks at secluded beaches, and discover the Punta Licosa peninsula before arriving at your hotel in the vibrant fishing village.

The final highlight is medieval Castellabate, whose narrow streets and panoramic views high above the coast are simply enchanting. From San Pietro, you’ll continue cycling to the Bay of Trentova near Agropoli. A short walk through the Mediterranean scrub opens up sweeping views of the sea. Afterwards, explore Agropoli’s old town and castle before ending the day in Paestum on a memorable note.

The tour concludes in Paestum, with a transfer to the local train station, from where you can continue your journey onward to Salerno or Naples.
