From Krimml to Salzburg
This family-friendly cycle tour follows the Tauern Cycle Path through Austria's stunning alpine landscape. Starting at the impressive Krimml Waterfalls, Europe's highest, the route covers 25-35 km daily stages through the Salzach Valley. Highlights include Lake Zell, the mystical Seisenbergklamm gorge, and the historic city of Salzburg with Mozart's birthplace. The tour runs on well-signposted, mostly asphalted paths and country roads with flat to hilly terrain, requiring good basic fitness and cycling skills.
The Hohe Tauern National Park gives its name to this beautiful cycle path. The views of the snow-capped peaks will delight you right from the very start. The Salzach, Saalach and Inn river valleys will guide you past a wide range of flora and fauna, authentic cultural and culinary delights as well as past truly genuine customs. This impressive diversity offered up by the Tauern Cycle Path ensures that all your senses are truly awakened. The daily stages are well-suited for families and leave enough time in the day for breaks and sight-seeing.
The Tauern Cycle Path is continuously signposted and runs on quiet, asphalted cycle paths and country roads. The cycling stages are between 25 and 35 km long and the topography ranges from flat to hilly. We recommend that children have a good basic level of fitness and good cycling skills (including safety in traffic).
