Arrival in Münster
Discover the University City of Münster with its typical houses, the historic town hall and the former prince-bishop palace.
Romantic palace Hülshoff with museum is awaiting you. Afterwards you pass house Havixbeck and the pilgrims village Eggeorde which is a colourful village with cafes and worth-seeing chapel.
You cycle through parks and moorlands to Ahaus. You should visit the admirable baroque palace, which was the summer residence of the former prince-bishop of MünsterYou cycle along small cycle paths to Ledgen with its beautiful gardens and the colourful Town of Verden. Enjoy your tour through moorlands and marsh areas until you reach the nature reservoir Zwillbrocker Venn where you will be in touch with black-headed gulls and flamingos!
Today you reach the country for cyclists! After just one kilometre you enter Holland. Along alleys, beautiful bike paths and small paths you cycle to Winterswijk in Holland, where each Wednesday is marketday. Through the antique-city of Bredevoort. In the afternoon you will leave Holland and reach the pretty town of Bocholt, which was named Germany’s most bike-friendly town for the sixth time in 2016.
Passing the Textilmuseum in Bocholt you cycle along the idyllic river Aa. The well signposted cycle path is part of the 460 km long route “Flusslandschaften” (river landscapes). Look forward to Lake Pröbsting See leisure complex, the Gemen moated castle in Borken and the Staphanus adventure brewery in Coesfeld in the evening.
Your route today leads you to Nottuln with its baroque centre and one of the most beautiful places in Münsterland. Visit the old blueprint manufacture and pass castle Kakesbeck and castle Senden till you reach Seppenrade or Lüdinghausen. You should visit the medieval fortress Vischering with Draw Bridge and museum.
The highlight of this tour – palace Nordkirchen – is awaiting you! Visit the palace and inspect the décor, artful baroque and rococo plastering, precious pictures, pillars and chimneys made of black marble. You stay on the route of 100 palaces for the rest of this day and pass house Romberg, house Byink and the tower of Davensberg before you reach Münster again.
