Embark on an exploratory journey through Germany's oldest town—there's plenty to discover! The first stage leads you past the ancient Villa Rustica to Trittenheim, where a wine tasting awaits. On day 3, you'll arrive at Neumagen-Dhron, Germany's oldest wine town. Bernkastel-Kues is also on the itinerary, and you'll spend the night in Zeltingen.

You pass through the "Kröver Nacktarsch" wine-growing region, passing by Traben-Trarbach and boarding a ferry for a ride on the famous river. A stroll through Beilstein reveals charming alleys and historic half-timbered houses. On the last day of this stage, you'll pedal to the special attraction of Eltz Castle. Afterward, just a few more kilometers bring you to the heart of Rhine romanticism: Coblenz, where you'll be enchanted!

  • Nine World Heritage Sites in Trier: Germany's oldest city boasts a rich array of Roman monuments. Notably, the Porta Nigra stands out as the best-preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps, while the Imperial Baths were once among the largest bathing complexes in the Roman Empire. Trier Cathedral and the Church of Our Lady, both masterpieces of Gothic architecture, also leave a lasting impression on visitors.
  • Half-timbered architecture in Enkirch: The picturesque village on the Moselle, is renowned for its impressive half-timber-framed houses. The well-preserved, richly decorated buildings predominantly date from the 15th to 18th centuries, showcasing the craftsmanship and prosperity of the winegrowers from that era. Enkirch captivates visitors with its narrow lanes and idyllic corners, vividly bringing to life the historic atmosphere and charm of this traditional architectural style.
  • Eltz Castle: Constructed in the 12th century, Eltz Castle captivates with its fairy-tale architecture, numerous towers, battlements, and its singular location atop a rocky outcrop enveloped by dense forest. Remarkably, it has remained in the possession of the same family for over 850 years, preserving within its walls a valuable collection of historical artworks and armor.

The Moselle Cycle Route spans not only through Germany but also offers beautiful sections in France and Luxembourg. The paths on both sides of the river are mostly flat, winding through vineyards that exude their characteristic charm.

Itinerary at a glance

Vineyards as far as the eye can see: After visiting the Roman city of Trier, you'll cycle through the wine villages of Bernkastel-Kues, Traben-Trarbach, Cochem, and Neumagen-Dhron. The Eltz Castle and the half-timbered buildings will leave a lasting impression!

Plan enough time to visit the historic inner city with Porta Nigra, the amphietheatre, the emperor hot springs or the beautiful dome.

Along Moselle bike path to Trittenheim where a special path gives lots of information about wine and winemaking. In the evening you can attend a wine tasting on Mondays and Tuesdays (reservation when booking the tour necessary).

In the morning you reach Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine village in Germany. You should spend your lunch on the market square of Bernkastel-Kues.

Through the vineyard „Kröver Nacktarsch“ to Traben-Trarbach. We recommend making a boat tour along the river. After a stop in Enkirch with its beautiful half-timber architecture you reach Zell.

Today you cycle via Beilstein, the „Rothenburg at the Moselle“ to Cochem Treis-Karden. Beilstein, with its narrow streets and corners, is considered one of the most beautiful and romantic places on the Moselle.

After the visit of the medieval fortress Eltz you cycle the last kilometres through the Moselle valley to Coblenz.

Today your beautiful bike tour ends in the heart of Coblenz.
