Discovery tour on the Mittelland route
This self-guided cycle tour from Zurich to Lausanne traverses the Swiss Mittelland on nearly car-free natural paths. The easy, mostly flat route covers approximately 50-75 km daily through the Three Lakes Region, passing baroque Solothurn, medieval Murten, and Roman Avenches. Highlights include the Aare wetlands, Gothic stained glass windows in Königsfelden, and the Grande Caricaie marsh with over 100 bird species, concluding with views of Lake Geneva in Lausanne.
Cycling in Switzerland often means conquering steep climbs and breathtaking heights, doesn’t it? Not on the Midland Route, though, which gently connects Eastern and Western Switzerland. Instead, you’ll be treated to a rich tapestry of landscapes and cultural treasures at every turn. This seven-day cycling adventure takes you from the lively city of Zurich to the French-inspired Lausanne, nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Geneva. Along the way, you’ll pass through delightful towns, discovering Switzerland in the most authentic and heartwarming way.
The route is almost completely flat through the Swiss Mittelland. Almost car-free, you ride on natural field and forest paths.
