Enchanting Salzburger Land

Discover the city of Salzburg

In Salzburger Land, you will discover all that the heart could desire: pristine lakes, majestic mountains, and a rich cultural heritage steeped in history. Your journey along the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path commences in the illustrious Mozart city of Salzburg. Nestled in a picturesque setting, Salzburg exquisitely marries vibrant urban sophistication with the charm of pastoral surroundings. The city’s profound connection to salt is not merely reflected in its name but intricately woven throughout the historic old town. At the formidable Hohensalzburg Fortress, you will be treated to breathtaking vistas over the city and the Alpine foothills, whilst uncovering the captivating history of the salt trade and the ascendancy of its esteemed rulers. Though erected to safeguard this precious resource, the fortress never faced battle. Instead, the Prince-Archbishops chiefly resided in the opulent Residence Palace at its foot. The DomQuartier likewise welcomes visitors to walk in the footsteps of these eminent figures as they explore the Residence Palace, Cathedral, and Archabbey.
