A cycling holiday for families means adventure at every turn, special moments shared together, and countless new places to discover. Preparation Is Key

Which route should we choose? Is the hotel family-friendly? What activities are available for children along the way? These are just some of the questions parents ask themselves when planning a family vacation. Before you start making your Travel Checklist, it’s important to take a closer look at the route and stages of your tour. Our Eurobike Travel Specialists have selected the ideal routes for you - tours that aren’t just suitable for kids, but also offer plenty of fun, variety, and adventure.

It’s also important to consider the length of each stage. Young children often want to explore their surroundings and take in the nature around them. In our experience, a daily stage length of 30 to 35 kilometers strikes the perfect balance. Our Travel Specialists are happy to help you find the perfect route for your family.

Family-Friendly Accommodations

Parents know just how important a good (and restful!) night’s sleep is for everyone’s well-being - and that doesn’t change while on vacation. That’s why choosing the right accommodations is key to a successful family cycling tour.

After a day full of adventure on the bike, it’s a real treat to find child-friendly sleeping arrangements already set up, kid-friendly meals on the menu, and a play area on-site. That way, there’s no chance for boredom - and you, as parents, get to actually enjoy your first (or maybe second) cup of coffee at the breakfast table.

Cycling with an attachment

You’ve mapped out the perfect route and found family-friendly accommodations - great! Now it’s time to think about how your kids will be joining the ride.

Depending on their age and experience, you might opt for a kids’ bike, a bike trailer, or a FollowMe tandem attachment. Not quite sure which option is best for your family tour? We’ve put together a handy overview of our children’s equipment to help you find the perfect setup for your family adventure.

Bright Eyes and Big Smiles

On a family cycling tour, you and your little ones get to discover the world together - whether it’s breathtaking natural wonders, exciting sights along the way, or a well-deserved ice cream break.

Young explorers especially need to stay engaged during the ride. That’s why it’s a great idea to plan plenty of stops where kids can let off steam and explore something new. Playgrounds, museums, or petting zoos along the route add variety - and give you the chance to see the world through a child’s eyes all over again.

Must-Haves for Your Cycling Tour

There’s some basic gear that should always have a place in your bike bags. Along with sun and rain protection, be sure to pack a small first-aid kit, some toys, and plenty of food and drinks for the whole family.

To make your cycling adventure even more special, consider planning a picnic along the route. After so much fun on the bike and time spent out in nature, a picnic isn’t just a welcome break - it’s also a great way to create lasting family memories.

And don’t forget the snacks! Especially the youngest riders tend to work up the biggest appetites along the way.

Expect the Unexpected

No matter how well you prepare for your cycling tour, it’s always good to keep in mind that traveling with young children often comes with surprises.

Stay flexible and keep your cool if things don’t go exactly as planned. Kids will be kids - and that’s part of the magic. A family cycling vacation is always, in some way, an unpredictable adventure.

One thing’s for sure: you’ll come home with plenty of memories and stories to tell.
