Choosing my Team Member on Tour destination was easy – I’m heading to beautiful Switzerland. It’s a country I’ve never visited before, and since this is also my very first cycling tour, I can hardly wait. A self-guided Eurobike Original Tour filled with new impressions and discoveries lies ahead. In this travel story, I’ll share how the tour unfolds and the special moments I experience along the way from St. Moritz to Innsbruck.

Off to St. Moritz

I can’t imagine a smoother start to the tour: the organized transfer takes us directly from Innsbruck to St. Moritz. My best friend and I begin our journey in Salzburg and take the train to Innsbruck, where our transfer driver is already waiting in front of the hotel.

The drive takes us through peaceful valleys, charming villages, and blooming meadows—offering a wonderful first glimpse of the landscapes that await us in the days to come.

Once we arrive in St. Moritz, we have the entire afternoon to explore this luxurious mountain town—an ideal start to our cycling adventure.

From Lake St. Moritz to Lake Sils

After breakfast, we head down to the hotel garage, where our perfectly set-up rental bikes are already waiting for us. While there's no personal handover of the e-bikes, the user guide in our thorough & detailed travel documents makes everything easy to understand. And just like that, our cycling adventure begins!

The first stage treats us to not one, but three stunning lakes, which we admire as we ride past vibrant flower-filled meadows and beneath a breathtaking mountain backdrop. Time and again, inviting rest spots tempt us to pause, enjoy a snack, and take in the incredible views.

The Enchanting Engadin Region

Leaving St. Moritz behind, we set off toward Zernez and Scuol, ready to embrace the wild beauty of the sun-drenched Engadin high valley. With its sparkling lakes and towering mountains, this is the perfect place to escape the everyday and dive into adventure.

We pedal through pristine landscapes, soaking in jaw-dropping views at every turn. It quickly becomes clear that choosing e-bikes was a smart move as some climbs are challenging, but the sweeping panoramas over the valley make every uphill push more than worth it.

Midway through the route, we pass through the charming little village of S-CHANF, which truly captivated me. This unassuming spot sits right in the middle of the stage, making it the perfect place for a break.

At the fountain surrounded by freshly renovated buildings, we unpacked the snacks we’d brought along from our high-quality saddlebags and enjoyed them while gazing out over the Inn River. After consulting our route book to check the next kilometers, we were ready to hit the road again.

Checking Out the Accommodations

Since I personally oversee the tour from St. Moritz to Innsbruck as a travel specialist, I naturally take the opportunity to take a closer look at each accommodation, and I have to say, they’re truly outstanding.

After arriving at the hotels, we usually start by exploring the small but lovely wellness areas that many of our accommodations have to offer. After a day on the bike, it’s the perfect way to unwind and simply let your soul relax.

Swiss Delights

Switzerland is famous not only for its fine chocolate but also for its exceptional cheese specialties. And what better way to experience the country than by savoring an authentic Swiss cheese fondue!

So, we head to the restaurant at Hotel Bellaval, where we’re invited to the cozy in-house fondue room, the “Fondue-Stübli Clünas.” The fondue is served flaming right at the table and, following the house recommendation, perfectly paired with a glass of white wine.

E Guete! It’s the perfect way to cap off our days in Switzerland before continuing on to Austria.

Castles, Museums, and Palaces

Our travel documents feature plenty of exciting excursions along the route. Some highlights are right on the path, while others can be reached with a short detour by bike or for a change of pace, a brief hike.

Among the historical sights, my personal favorites are the Church of St. Jon in Susch, Fortezza Castle, and Landeck Castle. I do also have one very special favorite spot, but I’ll save that reveal for the end!

The Last 60 Kilometers to the Finish

Today’s the longest stage of the tour, but with the route mostly flat and following the Inn River, cycling feels surprisingly easy and relaxed. As I pedal along, my thoughts wander back to our brief stop in Haiming: beneath bright sunshine, we were riding beside the Inn when a herd of grazing cows suddenly blocked our path. It was a truly special moment—right in the heart of nature, simply beautiful to witness.

The final kilometers lie ahead, and with every pedal, our excitement for Innsbruck grows. Our route ends right at the city’s famous landmark—the Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl). After a quick photo, it’s off to the hotel to freshen up.

Innsbruck is just so stunning that an afternoon is never enough to really explore it. That’s why we planned a second night from the start in the Tyrolean capital. We spent the extra time enjoying long strolls through the old town and visiting FlipLab Innsbruck. At the massive trampoline park, we bounced away our last bursts of energy—a total blast!

My Conclusion

If you’re looking for a journey through untouched nature, the tour from St. Moritz to Innsbruck comes highly recommended by me. The bike paths lead through charming small towns and stunning landscapes. A personal tip: put your phone on airplane mode—not just because phone bills can get surprisingly expensive after visiting Switzerland, but also because it helps you truly disconnect from everyday life. The vibrant cities of St. Moritz and Innsbruck perfectly complement the experience, providing a refreshing contrast to the natural surroundings.

My Favorite Spot

Looking back on our journey, it quickly became clear that Landeck Castle is my favorite spot. The local history museum, nestled right in the middle of the stage from Ried to Imst, makes for the perfect halfway stop. As we explore, we dive into the captivating history and mystique of Landeck. The museum brings it all to life through videos, audio plays, and a variety of exhibits. Since photography isn’t allowed, I’ve kept these vivid impressions safely stored in my mind. To cap off this part of our adventure, we climb the tower stairs for the best panoramic view of the entire town.
