Bike & Sail Highlights of Tuscany, Atlantis

Italy – a dream destination in the south!

8 Days / 7 Nights
Athletic

Italy – a dream destination in the south! When you think of Tuscany, countless images spring to mind: rolling hills, magnificent architecture from different eras, azure blue sea, the aromatic scent of various herbs and citrus fruits, a babble of voices in a language that sounds like music, and last but not least, fantastic food and great wine. Italy is balm for the soul and the senses!

Enjoy breathtaking scenery on this sailing and e-bike tour through Tuscany and cycle in the footsteps of the Etruscans and Romans! Cypress trees, vines and olive trees, nestled in green hills, characterise the typical Tuscan landscape. Picturesque medieval villages with narrow streets and colourful houses invite you to linger and enjoy a cappuccino or ice cream break. Wonderful sandy beaches and small bays tempt you time and again to take a dip in the sparkling sea.

The Atlantis is a floating hotel that allows you to change locations in complete relaxation and, as a tall ship, also offers a real sailing experience! And what could be better than jumping into the refreshing water directly from the ship anchored in the bay? Sailing & e-biking in Tuscany – your all-round happy cycling holiday!

Itinerary at a glance

Individual arrival in Porto St. Stefano, a wonderful, lively harbour town on the northern side of the Monte Argentario peninsula. The boat is ready to be boarded at 6 pm. Should you arrive earlier, you are welcome to leave your luggage on board from 2 pm onwards. A short stroll through the medieval old town, painted in a wash of pink and beige, will quickly make you realize that you are now on holiday! We recommend a walk to the Fortezza Spagnola on the hill above the old town, built in the 17th century to protect the city. The first evening meal on board is a great way to get to know your fellow travellers, guides, and crew. Overnight in Porto St. Stefano

Your first bike tour takes you from Porto St. Stefano to the historic town of Orbetello. With a little bit of luck, you will have the chance to admire the spectacular flamboyance of flamingos in the WWF natural oasis Laguna di Orbetello. Afterwards your cycle tour leads to the ruins of the fortified Roman town of Cosa and then through the Duna Feniglia nature reserve, with its enchantingly beautiful pine forest. The tour continues predominantly along cycle paths back to Porto Santo Stefano where the Atlantis awaits your arrival for a crossing to Talamone

After breakfast, it’s time for a sailing voyage! A long crossing to Elba awaits you. If the winds are favourable, guests receive a briefing on sailing and can help set sail together. After Sicily and Sardinia, Elba is the third largest island in Italy and it impresses with its charm, lush nature and rich history. Lunch will be served on board and guests have time for a swim before you arrive in the sheltered bay of Porto Azzuro. In the evening, you can explore the charming harbour town.

Today’s tour of the multi-facetted island of Elba takes you to the lively town of Capoliveri, where you soak up the Italian charm and enjoy a delicious ice cream and coffee. The tour continues along a beautiful panoramic road, followed by a lunch break, before taking you back to Porto Azurro. In the evening, island hopping invites you to a wine tasting.

Today you can look forward to a somewhat longer tour from Porto Azzuro to the north of the island of Elba. After a coffee break in Rio nell' Elba you head to one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the trip. From Voltereio you can look out over the beautiful bay of Portoferreio, the capital of the island. After lunch, you cycle the last few kilometres to the bay of Enfola

Today the queen’s stage awaits you! You cycle over the island, visiting the mountain village of Marciana along the way before reaching the highest point of the tour at Monte Perone. From here you are rewarded with a wonderful decent to the village of San Piero in Campo, where you can enjoy a delicious lunch with a view of the ship. Once back on the ship there is plenty of time for a refreshing swim directly from the boat. Afterwards, the sails are set, and you head for Isola Giglio, an island located in the very south of the Tuscan Archipelago. This Italian jewel is home to mountains, forest, untouched nature, and crystal-clear sea!

You begin your cycling tour in Campese on the west of the island. The destination for today is the medieval town of Giglio Castello, enthroned like an impregnable castle high up on the island of Giglio. A quick descent takes you down to Giglio Porto. After dinner, the sails are set for the island of Giglio. Isola Giglio is located in the very south of the Tuscan archipelago and is a scenic jewel. Mountains, forest, untouched nature and crystal-clear sea!

Departure at 9 am after breakfast followed either by an extended stay in Tuscany or an individual journey home.
