On the first day of your tour, you cycle from Amsterdam on a quiet bike path through Waterland and "Twiske", a leisure area and then on to the open-air museum "Zaanse Schans" where you can visit lovely windmills, an old traditional village with rustic wooden houses, a cheese dairy and where you can see a traditional clog-maker at work. After visiting the museum, you cycle continue cycling to Zaandam. Those who would like can cycle a longer route through Assendelft. The rest of the afternoon and evening is left free for you to look around Zaandam.

At the end of the afternoon, a coach will take you back to Enkhuizen, a beautiful 17th century town, rich in culture and maritime tradition, sitting on the shores of the Ijsselmeer. All bikes will be parked safely and monitored in Alkmaar.
Your second day's cycling takes you through the wonderful polder landscape via small villages to Alkmaar. In Alkmaart you will rejoin the MS Angela Esmee where a warm shower and a glass of wine or beer are awaiting you as well as a delicious dinner. In the late afternoon the boat will go to Den Helder's naval port via the Noord-hollands canal.
Programme for March 28 until May 30, 2020
After breakfast a coach will bring you back to Alkmaar, where today’s cycle tour begins. Today you can discover the beautiful coast of North Holland: a 70km long strip with forest, moorland and dunes and of course the wide, sandy beaches of the North Sea. On the way – and definitely worth a visit – is the artist village of Bergen. Then cycle all the way north and through the dunes along the coast to the naval port of Den Helder. There is an approximately 17km shorter version if you do not cycle to Den Helder, but to Schagen then travel by train to Helder (limited capacity for bikes – approx. 30mins, tickets approx. €13 not incl.). After dinner visit and take part in a guided tour of the Lightship Museum in Den Helder (incl).
Whilst you have breakfast on board, the MS Angela Esmee is already moving on to Oudeschild via Marsdiep, which is a deep shipping channel. It will quickly become apparent to you why the North Sea Texel island is so popular amongst holiday makers. There are charming little places, wonderful beaches and nature protection areas, which are connected together with a perfectly designed cycle network allowing for easy access. Go for a bit of a swim at the beach, visit "Ecomare", which is a seal rescue centre. Another option is to cycle along the charming "Thijsse-route" (with signposts, approx. 40km). This ride takes you through picturesque villages and beautiful scenery. Enjoy a beer that has been brewed on the island whilst visiting the small brewery located at Oudeschild's harbour. In the evening, the MS Angela Esmee will head back to the mainland, more specifically to Den Oever. This evening's highlight is a lovely live music evening on board.
The boat will cross the IJselmeer whilst you are having breakfast today in order to moor at Stavoren harbour in the province of Friesland. Here you can decide whether you would like to go on a shorter or a longer bike ride. You can also visit the Gaasterland nature area or the southern part of the Friesian lake area. Spend the evening in the small port in Stavoren, which is one of eleven towns in the province that are steeped in tradition.
Early in the morning, the boat crosses the IJselmeer once more. After breakfast you cycle a short way over the IJselmeer dyke to Enkhuizen, which is an old and very historic town with a long shipping tradtion (over a century). It has a wonderful harbour, a well-kept old town and an extremely interesting "Zuiderzee" museum, which you can visit in the afternoon. The longer bike tour additionally takes you to Hoorn, which was one of the most significant ports worldwide in the 17th Century. Take a detour into the old town - it's worth it! In the afternoon, go through some picturesque little farming villages to Enkhuizen. After dinner there will be time to go for a little walk in Enkhuizen.
You have two bike tours to choose between today, however both options finish in the historic city of Haarlem. If you are up to the challenge, the longer tour takes you through the sand dunes of the North Sea coastline via Bloemendaal and Zandvoort; the shorter tour heads inland to Haarlem. On both tours you will cycle back to Beverwijk. In the evening your ship will sail to Zaandam.
From Zaandam your final day of cycling will take you to the open air museum ‘Zaanse Schans’ with its beautiful windmills, traditional wooden houses, an old Dutch village, a cheese farm and a traditional wooden clog maker. After exploring the museum, continue cycling through the leisure area of Twiske to Amsterdam. The afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy everything Amsterdam has to offer. If you didn’t go for a canal tour on the first day, you will have the opportunity to do so today.
After breakfast it is time to disembark. Your bike and boat tour has come to and end.
