From Hann. Münden to Bremen – the classic one
Follow the Weser Cycle Path from Hann. Münden to Bremen through picturesque landscapes and historic towns. This easy route covers 45-65 km daily on traffic-free paths with minimal elevation changes, ideal for families and beginners. Highlights include the baroque town of Bad Karlshafen, Fürstenberg's porcelain manufactory, Corvey Castle near Höxter, the Pied Piper town of Hameln, and Bremen's famous Town Musicians monument and Schnoor quarter.
The river Weser is one of the most important German rivers. Starting point of this tour is the idyllic half-timbered town Hann. Münden – the place where rivers Werra and Fulda are forming the Weser. Already here in the small town you encounter the impressive Weser Renaissance with carefully reconstructed half timbered houses. From here you follow the meandering river through the "Weserbergland" (Weser mountains), having many hidden treasures. You travel trough medieval half timbered towns as Höxter, Rinteln or Hameln. Visit the "Lying Baron Münchhausen" in Bodenwerder or see the original site of the tale of the "Rat Catcher from Hameln". Nienburg attracts with its old city, Verden with its dome and Bremen with its Schnoor district. All together a scenic and cultural very interesting journey which is due to the flat tour course easy to cycle.
The Weser River Cycle Path follows mainly side roads with only scarce traffic as well as dedicated asphalted cycle paths and country roads. Only few differences in altitude have to be managed, therefore this cycle path is highly recommended for beginners or families with children.
