In Piedmont you can take in nature during your cycling holiday – after all, there’s a reason why this region in the northwest of the country is often referred to as the ‘Italy’s Garden of Eden’. Lush vineyards, fields of vegetables and orchards are examples of the surprising richness that can of course also be found on the plate.

It’s simply wonderful to cycle past the vineyards, orchards and enchanting villages of Piedmont! Take a break? Anytime! Simply choose one of the wonderful places along the cycle path and enjoy the unique views. Torino is the start and end point of this eight-day cycle tour and the first capital of Italy, also known as ‘Little Paris’, You will love this city! You can experience how fascinating Piedmont can be with every turn of the wheel.

  • Culinary delights: Indulgence is at home in Piedmont – there are so many temptations in northern Italy. Taste your way through the wide range of regional delicacies, such as wine, the finest chocolate, truffles and risotto.
  • Mountain views and panoramas: The panoramas ensure great variety on this cycling holiday. For example, you can enjoy the snow-capped peaks of the Alps.

Every day you cover between 40 and 65 kilometres, which mainly lead along cycle paths and low-traffic side streets. Except for the last stages between Bra and Alba, the route is mostly flat. Again and again you meet the rivers of the Piedmont and cycle along them. The cycling week ends with a train ride between Chieri and Torino.

On bike paths and side roads you cycle along the river Po. You should take your time for the rococo palace of Stupinigi which was designed by the architect Filippo Juvarra. This palace was the residence for the family of Savoyen for many years. Through parks and along rivers you continue to Penerolo, which is famous for its well-known cavalry school.

Hotel (example): Albergo Regina

You cycle on beautiful paths along fruit orchards and vineyards to Cavour with its quaint fortress “Rocca” – a hill in the middle of flat landscape. You will then reach medieval Saluzzo. 

Hotel (example): Hotel Antiche Mura

Today you will pass the beautiful palaces of Manta and Costigliole. You should visit Benevagienna – a city with Roman roots – and its archaeological excavations. Afterwards you continue to Cherasco and Bra, which is the capital of gourmets. The organisation “Slow Food” was founded here.

Hotel (example): Albergo Cantine Ascheri

In Pollenzo – also a city with Roman roots – the University of “tastefulness” is located. After Barolo you have to manage some hills, but you will be “compensated” with Italians best wine afterwards. You have to taste! Along the river Tanaro you continue to Alba (very famous for truffles).

Hotel (example): Hotel Calissano

Today you cycle in the region of Roero. On your way you will see the palaces of Guarene and Cisterna – the museum can be visited. Your overnight stay is in Asti which is a very cultural city. It is famous for its sparkling wine and the rivalry of Palio.

Hotel (example): Hotel Aleramo

Your tour leads you on secondary paths and along small rivers back to Turin where you first started your tour.  On your way, you will see romantic villages. In Chieri, tasty vines tempt you to have another glass of wine before travelling back to Turin by train.

You cycle on bike paths and side roads. The first two stages are predominantly flat. Afterwards the tour course has a rather hilly routing. On the stage from Bra to Barolo to Alba there are also a few longer ascents to cycle. In the cities you cycle on roads with heavier traffic.
