Stockholm and its archipelago

7 Days / 6 Nights
Medium
The idyllic village of Öregrund

Experience a week of vibrant city life, the idyllic island world, and the shimmer of crystal-clear waters as you explore the Swedish capital Stockholm and the archipelago off the coast by bike. The serenity of nature and the charming small towns on the islands, like Värmdö and Sandhamn, radiate a unique charm. The Scandinavian way of life and coziness add to the allure, whether you're in the numerous cafes, boutiques, or the beautiful hotels where you'll stay during your cycling vacation.

Enjoy the urban flair of Stockholm and explore the sights of the Swedish capital. Soon, you'll head towards Vaxholm and visit Bogesund Castle along the way. On this tour, cycling stages alternate with ferry crossings, including visits to the islands of Rindö and Värmdö.

On a day excursion to Sandhamn, you can explore the small island by bike or simply lie on the beach, depending on your mood. On day 6, you complete the entire route on two wheels, cycling over the Skurusund Bridge to Saltsjöbaden. The final stage takes you along the coast and through peaceful forests back to Stockholm.

  • History and contemporary Stockholm: Magnificent townhouses, enchanting bridges, and the charming old town—Stockholm, the Swedish capital, is simply delightful! But there's also a modern side brimming with art, culture, and a vibrant scene of restaurants, bars, and cafes. In short, Stockholm offers the ideal conditions to fall in love with this city!
  • The magnificent Bogesund Castle: Near Vaxholm, you'll encounter the nearly 400-year-old castle on your journey, which has undoubtedly witnessed much over the years. Nestled in a spacious park, it not only offers insight into the region's history but is also a sight to behold.
  • The UNESCO World Heritage Site Skogskyrkogården: A forest cemetery may seem somewhat unusual, but the atmosphere in this place is truly unique. Impressive monuments and architectural treasures bear witness to the significance of the burial site, which houses around 100,000 graves.

The Stockholm archipelago consists of approximately 30,000 islands—mostly small, rocky formations dating back to the Ice Age, creating a spectacular landscape. Given the frequent ferry crossings from island to island, individual stages are limited to a maximum length of 55 kilometers.

The stunning landscapes make cycling tours in Sweden spectacular experiences. Along the coast, in the enchanting inland or in the beautiful cities around Stockholm, the Nordic country is a rewarding destination!
