Itinerary

In the evening there is a welcome briefing as well as a bike fitting session. Take your first stroll through Sweden’s capital city and explore some of the many sights and tourist attractions.

On the first day, you cycle alongside the Mälaren, the third largest lake in Sweden, which then leads you to Lövon island. This island is a World Cultural Heritage site and you will find Drottningholm palace here. This palace is where the Swedish Royal family grew up. Afterwards the bike tour heads back towards the city. You cycle over many bridges which connect different neighbourhoods of the town with each other. You cycle through the old town of Södermalm, which was formerly a working-class area but is now where the hipsters and designers live you are cycling through the old town and Skeppsholmen back to your hotel.

What would be a trip to Stockholm without visiting the impressing skerries? This is exactly why todays stage leds you with the bike to Vaxholm. This idyllic small town describes itself as the capital of skerries and is waiting for you with lots of restaurants, little shops and an fortress from the 16th century. Back to Stockholm you get by a ferry, which approx. takes 1 hour.

Today’s stage takes you to a large conservation area with diverse landscapes and many lakes. Today’s destination is the lovely bathing place in Saltsjöbaden.

You cycle to a peninsula, called Djurgården and you pass the Astrid-Lindgren Museum Junibacken and the Vasa Museum. The historical district of Djurgårdstaden is situated behind the amusement park called Gröna Lund. Wherever you look you see falun red houses! You cycle past an open-air museum called Skansen as well as Prince Eugen’s Waldemarsudde and then you continue towards the waterside. From the water’s edge, you get a good view of the harbour entrance and the boats. You then arrive at the southern side of the Djurgårdens. The bike tour continues from Blockhushudden via Djurgårdens northern foothills before you then cycle back.
