On the lakes route through picturesque Switzerland
Challenging cycle tour connecting Lake Geneva and Lake Lucerne through Switzerland's picturesque landscapes. The route follows quiet roads through Gruyères cheese region, Gstaad, and the Simmental valley with its ornate wooden houses. Daily distances range from 35-60 km with flat sections along lakes and steeper climbs between them. Highlights include a boat trip from Spiez to Interlaken on Lake Thun, crossing the Brünig Pass by train, and finishing in Lucerne.
The Lakes Route truly lives up to its name, as countless bodies of water await you between the start at Lake Geneva and the destination at Lake Lucerne. The route passes through some of Switzerland’s most renowned tourist regions and charming towns with names that resonate: Montreux, Gruyères, Gstaad, Interlaken, and Lucerne... Anyone who completes the Lakes Route has seen the most beautiful corners of Switzerland.
The route is flat around the lakes, with smaller and larger inclines to conquer between the bodies of water. These are easily managed with an e-bike and if needed, you can also take a shortcut using public transport."
