Cyclists between vines in the evening atmosphere

If locals of a country make a holiday, then it must be a great destination, right? Southern Styria just one of those places in Austria! Our tour based in one hotel through this special region below Graz combines great views, varied activities and numerous hours of sunshine. One thing needs to be emphasised again: Southern Styria is widely known for its delicious cuisine - this is included in the trip in the form of a tasty menu half board.

The starting point of the tour is the enchanting municipality of Mureck, surrounded by idyllic nature. Use the breaks to take a walk through the old town or to the unique ship mill. The concept of the tour based in one hotel is actually quite simple: one accommodation serves as a "base station" from which day cycling tours lead.

Don't forget your swimwear, because a day at the thermal baths is on the tour's agenda, as well as visits to one of the excellent wineries and a pumpkin seed oil mill. On day 4, you will cross the border into Slovenia in a detour, where great views and cultural impressions await you.

  • The thermal baths in Bad Radkersburg: Sauna, jacuzzi or slides - the Park Thermal Baths offer plenty of relaxation, but also numerous attractions. Enjoy the soothing effect of the regional thermal springs!
  • Magnificent views in the South Styrian Wine Route: Admittedly - vineyards mean sometimes hilly tours, but also grandiose views. And you can hardly get enough of them in Southern Styria. The award-winning wine, the regional delicacies and above all the warm hospitality of the people do the rest.
  • Tasting of the famous pumpkin seed oil: It is probably Styria's most famous export: pumpkin seed oil. The so-called "black gold" with the characteristic nutty taste.
  • The Schlossberg with clock tower in Graz: The Styrian capital is certainly one of the most charming cities in Austria. The southern atmosphere, great gastronomy and the beautiful old town - what more could you want? Enjoy the view from one of the city's "rooftop" bars, such as Area 5. This rather studenty eatery is located on Jakominiplatz and, in addition to said panaromas, also offers the concept of the ‘Bausatz-Lokal’, which is an interesting change from the quaint and cosy ‘Buschenschenken’.

Overall, the Sternfahrt in Südsteiermark can be described as a leisurely tour with stage lengths between 30 and 65 km. On the Murradweg you follow one of the most beautiful cycle paths in Austria, not to mention the natural scenery. Experience it for yourself!

Enjoy a welcome drink and receive the adjustments to your rental bike.

On the first stage, you’ll cycle eastward along the Mur River until you reach Bad Radkersburg. Pure relaxation awaits! The wonderfully warm waters of the thermal baths promise a pleasant afternoon. On the return journey to Mureck, you’ll pedal through scenic floodplain landscapes along the Mur Cycle Path.

In the morning, a transfer takes you to the South Styrian Wine Road. There, you’ll enjoy a wine tasting at one of the local wineries, included in your travel package, featuring excellent regional vintages. Then, hop on your bike and follow the Weinstraße, taking in the stunning views of the region. Your ride leads you first to Gamlitz, then via Ehrenhausen back to Mureck.

Cycling without borders—this stage crosses the national frontier! As the Mur River winds between Austria and Slovenia, today you’ll venture beyond it. In return, our neighbor welcomes you with scenic trails and stunning vistas throughout the day.

Your day starts with a train ride to Graz, the 2003 European Capital of Culture, celebrated for its rich history and genuine Styrian charm. Must-see sights include the Schlossberg with its iconic Uhrturm, Schloss Eggenberg, and the town hall. Enjoy exploring a variety of museums and inviting local restaurants to round out your Graz experience. In the afternoon, cycle back along the scenic Mur Cycle Path, with Schloss Seggau providing a memorable finale to your day.

In addition to its excellent wines, Styria is famous for another culinary gem: pumpkin seed oil, prized for its rich, nutty flavor. Nowhere else matches the exceptional quality found here. This stage leads you through the pumpkin-growing region, featuring a visit to a traditional oil mill.
