A bay near Cape St Vincent

A cycling holiday along the Algarve could not be more diverse. You cycle from Europe‘s southwesternmost point, the Cape St. Vincent all the way to the Spanish-Portuguese border town Vila Real de Santo Antonio. En route you experience stunning sceneries, romantic fishing villages with lots of tradition, bustling historic centres, secluded bays framed by steep cliffs, fabulous views across the sea and countless endless sandy beaches inviting you to linger or swim. Enjoy the Portuguese hospitality with its excellent cuisine and discover a multifaceted and stunningly beautiful coastline during this cycle holiday from West to East!

Your eight-day journey takes you along the coast from west to east, including not only the region's major hotspots but also quiet gems and tranquil spots. You begin at Cape St. Vincent, the southwesternmost point of Europe, with a breathtaking natural backdrop. Around Lagos, be sure to allocate enough time to linger on the beautiful beaches and enjoy a swim in the Atlantic.

Idyllic villages and harbor towns, with restaurants that cater especially to seafood enthusiasts, line the stages leading to the famous Algarve hotspots of Albufeira, Faro, and Tavira. The final leg of the tour takes you through the Ria Formosa Natural Park and to the Spanish border in Vila Real de Santo António.

  • The Cape of St. Vincent: Right from the beginning of your tour, you'll encounter an absolutely fascinating place - Cabo de São Vicente. Steep cliffs and a lighthouse create a magical natural spectacle as the waves lash against the rocks. During the age of the seafarers, this cape was considered the end of the world; after all, people didn't yet know what lay beyond the endless expanses of the sea.
  • Lively cities around Lagos, Albufeira and Faro: Enjoy watching the life on the streets of the famous Algarve cities. Music, laughter, and the bustling activity in the markets, restaurants, and shops create the perfect contrast to tranquil olive groves, pine forests, and picturesque coves.
  • The Ria Formosa Nature Park: The lagoon landscape in the eastern Algarve is renowned for its sand dunes, small islands, and unique flora and fauna. As it is influenced by the tides, the terrain constantly changes. Numerous bird species nest here, and with a bit of luck, you might even encounter flamingos.

The Eurobike cycling tours with charm include accommodations in carefully selected hotels that offer their guests that certain something extra. Look forward to a touch of luxury, a fine spa area, or a special location. A hearty breakfast awaits you each day, ensuring you set off to your daily destinations with strength and energy. With stage lengths ranging from 35 to 60 kilometers, there's nothing to stop you from enjoying a varied tour. With a bit of stamina, you'll conquer the moderate hills of the Algarve in no time. In Lagos and Tavira, you have the opportunity for extension nights – consider it; the time is wonderfully spent in the old towns and on the beaches!

Can't get enough of cycling vacations? Us neither – that's why Eurobike's destinations extend across all of Europe. In Spain, for example, you can explore places like Majorca and Andalusia, and even Cyprus is an excellent destination to discover on two wheels.
