Passau - Vienna - Passau in 5 days by boat and bike
You do not have a whole week? You have never done a bike & boat trip before but always wanted to do such a tour? Then this trip is just right for you. In 5 days and 4 nights you will experience many beautiful moments that you will always remember with pleasure. For example discover the fascinating landscape of the wild Strudengau and Melk with its world famous Benedictine monastery. In Vienna you will then be spoilt for choice-acity that can hardly be described, that simply has to be experienced. No matter what you choose, a visit to one of the countless cozy coffee houses should always be included. One of the highlights of this tour, however, will definitely be your bike tour through the Wachau: UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to great wines and home to ancient castles -but last but not least, the region between Krems and Melk delights with its scenic beauty
Arrival in the "Three River City". Passau attracts many with the world's greatest church organ at the Stephansdom and its charming Old Town. Embarkation will be around 4:00 pm, departure around 6pm. Enjoy your first dinner on board.and an evening sail to Grein
Today's stage is marked by a diverse landscape. At the beginning, there is the Strudengau –a narrow point of the Danube which used to be notorious amongst skippers. The valley expands from Persenbeug and the bike tour leads you further to Melk with its gorgeous baroque monastery of the Benedictine brethren. On deck, you enjoy the sunset and the beautiful evening illumination of the Wachau. In the night shipping to Vienna.
You should be sure to see the most famous places of interest like the St. Stephens Cathedral, the Hofburg, the gorgeous boulevard "Ringstraβe" with the Burgtheater, the State Opera House or the town hall that takes you back to the past. In the night shipping to Rossatz or Dürnstein (Wachau).
Your last biking day is a special highlight! Amidst small dreamy villages, apricot trees, vineyards, castles, monasteries and ruins, this gentle hilly landscape enchants everybody. A powerful ruin looms above the small Baroque town of Dürnstein, whilethe blue tower of the monastery church is a landmark of Wachau. In the small village of Pöchlarn you will board again. After the farewell gala dinner, you start “sailing” back to Passau.
Every journey draws to an end. Once again you enjoy on deck the first sunbeams and the peaceful silence of the Danube Valley. Take a last sight at the Schlögener Schlinge ("Great Loop") before you arrive relaxed at Passau. Arrival: approx. at 10am, disembarkation half an hour late
