Sportive along river Danube

As you like it.

Explore the paths along the blue Danube River just like the Romans, the legendary Nibelungs, and even Europe’s powerful kings and emperors did before you. You will get to know the beauty and historical significance of this ancient military and trading route. Never far away from the cool, clear water of the Danube, you will enjoy one of Europe’s most beautiful and popular cycle routes.

You can either start your trip in the baroque town of Schärding or Passau, the town of three rivers. You will cycle through various districts of Upper and Lower Austria and then finally to the Danube's metropolis, Vienna. You will love the breathtaking natural beauty of the Danube valley and the Schlögen bend. Perhaps you will fall in love with the landscapes along the Danube river such as the Machland, Strudengau,  or the famous Wachau. In the rural areas, to accompany these wonderful impressions, you can enjoy many traditional Austrian delicacies. Your physical wellbeing will be well catered for, from savoury dumpling specialities and Austrian cider all the way to the wines of the Buschenschenken taverns in the Wachau region.  This cycle tour is a true classic!

Erholung auf zwei Rädern
Die Tour lässt genug Zeit für spannende Besichtigungen entlang der Strecke - Stift Engelszell, Kuchen in Linz, Entschleunigen im Biergarten ...

Relaxing bicycle tour along the Danube
Easy cycling, no difficult hills. The landscape is beautiful, especially in the Wachau area, that day was probably my favourite day, it was like cycling constantly through a flower garden. Interesting history which the guide told us during stops. The short sightseeing in Vienna was appreciated.

Exciting adventure
I highly recommend Eurobike for this cycling holiday along the Danube. All my preliminary email communications were very polite, helpful and prompt. This initial feeling of comfort was confirmed by the actuality. We chose the mid range standard accommodation with breakfast and dinner included, which proved to be excellent. The bikes were great and we had no issues with them. The bike path, although occasionally shared with local motor traffic, was comfortable, well maintained and mostly traverses quiet, tranquil landscapes, dotted with some absolutely beautiful villages and towns. It is important to plan your day beforehand to ensure you cross bridges as necessary to end up on the right side of the river for the night's accommodation. Taking note of signs along the way is also imperative. One other thing to be very careful with is the location of your accommodation - the address given in the notes is NOT necessarily the town, but may refer to the region. (We did an extra 32kms on the first day having misinterpreted the notes). However, at the end of our journey we were almost reluctant to return our bikes as we wanted to keep going, it had been such a fantastic experience. If we ever do another bike ride like this, we will definitely use Eurobike.

Chrimes review
Having done a number of other similar river tours on the loire rhine and moselle this was the best in terms of documentation bikes and road surface. There were a couple of diversions due to tree felling on day 2 which caused a delay and elsewhere due to flood defence works but nothing serious. We felt the hotel aumuehle at grein did not have enough staff to cope with the number of cyclists requiring transfer as they were also transferring people to pop concerts. We did not have enough time to enjoy the leisure facilities before eating as the kitchen was closing at 8 pm.

Dear Mr. Chrimes, thanks for your feedback. Good to hear that you had a great holiday. July is high season, so all hotels have busy times! We would like to say sorry for Hotel Aumühle, normally they offer a pretty good service!

Herrliche Radtour
