Bavaria's mountains and lakes
This family-friendly cycle tour explores Bavaria's stunning lake region on a challenging 5-day loop. Cycle approximately 20-30 km daily through the Starnberger See, Osterseen nature reserve with 19 small lakes, Murnau am Staffelsee, Kochelsee, and Bad Tölz. The route follows cycle paths and quiet roads with flat to hilly terrain. Highlights include swimming opportunities, the Franz Marc Museum, Benediktbeuern monastery, and traditional Bavarian cuisine in charming beer gardens.
At the many lakes, surrounded by a massive mountain world, the landscape is breathtaking. Discover the second largest lake in Bavaria, Lake Starnberg, as well as the Lüftlmalerei in Murnau. You can enjoy the panorama during short breaks, as you will always have the opportunity to stop and rest at one of the many lakes.. Enjoy the tasty Bavarian delicacies and discover the adventures both on and off the bike.
You mainly cycle along cycle paths and quiet side roads. The cycle stages are between 20 and 30 kilometres long, the topography ranges from flat to hilly, with some longer climbs in places. We recommend that children have a good basic level of fitness and good cycling skills (including safety in traffic).
