Two cyclists on well-maintained cycle paths at Lake Resia with mountain panorama in the background

Whether it’s spring, summer, or fall – cycling season is always open on the sun-drenched southern slopes of the Alps. Your journey begins at Reschensee, with sweeping views of the majestic Ortler mountain range as you ride through the region’s lush orchards and vineyards. Along the way, castles and fortresses dot the landscape, guiding you to the elegant spa town of Merano and the medieval cathedral city of Trento. As the sunlight dances on the water, Lake Garda greets you with its shimmering charm – a scenic boat ride across the lake is included in your tour. From here, the Mediterranean atmosphere sets the tone as you continue toward the sea. Verona, Vicenza, and Padua still lie ahead before you reach the iconic lagoon city. The scenery is nothing short of captivating – with its stunning architecture rising from the water, Venice is an experience that stays with you. Come and see for yourself!

The first attraction awaits shortly after you begin: The Lake Resia with its sunken church tower. The stages to the spa and garden city of Merano and the next day to Trento are peppered with castles and ruins as well as unique nature. Also observe the plants as they change - the further south you cycle, apple orchards are replaced by peach and kiwi plantations. Everywhere, however, you will find grapevines (and excellent wines!).

On day 5, you will pass the historically significant town of Solferino on the way to Verona. In 1859, a particularly gruesome battle took place here, which resulted in the founding of the Red Cross. Our tour then leads via Verona and Padua to Venice, where the sea welcomes you for the "Grande finale".

  • The church tower in the Lake Resia: Around 160 houses once stood on the site, which was flooded in the 1950s to create a reservoir. Today, the church tower of St. Katharina rising out of the water is a reminder of the village.
  • Strolling through Laubengasse in Bolzano: Soak up the hustle and bustle of Bolzano's most famous street. Why not order a cappuccino in one of the numerous cafés and really live the Italian "dolcé vita".
  • Boat trip across Lake Garda: One of the absolute highlights of the tour is the Lake Garda crossing by boat. Enjoy not only the fresh breeze and the beauty of the lake, but also the architecture on the shore.
  • The Piazza delle Erbe in Verona: Nothing takes centre stage in Italian cities like the characteristic piazza. As the hub of life, you could certainly linger here for hours - Verona's oldest square offers countless opportunities for this.

The quite demanding stages are between 50 and 100 kilometres long, so you should be in good shape. As far as the route is concerned, you can look forward to very good conditions on the Adige Cycle Path. Don't forget to take advantage of the tour's included services, which are all about Italian enjoyment, from grappa tasting to a boat trip on Lake Garda.

Ride along beautifully maintained cycling paths, following the Etsch River for much of the way. The route leads downhill descending nearly 1,500 meters (4,900 feet) in elevation from the Reschen Pass to Lake Garda. That said, a few climbs still await, especially before reaching Vicenza. Most of the time, you’ll cycle on bike paths and quiet country roads, from Lake Garda via quiet side roads. Our sporty cycling tours are known for their challenging routes, covering up to 95 kilometers (around 59 miles) per day.
