Italy at Its Finest

Our Team’s Favorite Spots
Pilcante Bridge

Summer is slowly winding down. As nature begins to shift toward fall and we look ahead to the 2026 season, we’d like to celebrate the summer one more time with you—at least in spirit. Our Eurobike team has been discovering the beauty of Italy, and today they’re sharing their personal favorite spots with you. Let yourself be inspired by their insider tips and unforgettable travel highlights.

Pilcante Bridge

Between Alpine Views and Mediterranean Flair

The Alpe-Adria Cycle Path is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most impressive and diverse cycling routes—and for good reason. Stretching over roughly 410 kilometers (255 miles), it connects the cultural city of Salzburg with the Italian Adriatic, taking riders from alpine highlands all the way to the Mediterranean coast. Majestic mountain landscapes and a touch of Dolce Vita in the south accompany cyclists on their journey to Italy.

Cyclists can choose their approach: a relaxed pace or a slightly more sporty adventure. A particular highlight along the route is the historic Pontebbana railway line, featuring an old tunnel and spectacular mountain views. Our colleagues Paula and Stefanie have also explored the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path and discovered their own personal favorite spots along the way.

Salzburg – Grado with Stefanie

Medium

Cycling the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path under brilliant sunshine, Stefanie and her partner were treated to a series of wonderful highlights along the way. A break at Klammstein Castle in the Gastein Valley, a detour to the Barbarossa Gorge in Mühldorf, and the stunning section around Tarvisio—widely considered one of the most beautiful stretches of the route—made Stefanie’s adventure truly unforgettable.

For Stefanie, it’s clear: this won’t be her last journey along the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path. She was particularly struck by the diverse natural landscapes, which can be fully appreciated on a bike in a way that driving simply cannot match. These experiences turned the tour into an unforgettable adventure through the beauty of Italy.

Grado

My Favorite Spot

During our ride, it quickly became clear that a detour to the Barbarossa Gorge in Mühldorf would be the perfect break from our cycling tour. After a short but steep climb, we arrived at our destination and continued on foot through the gorge. Guided by a local legend, we wandered between the towering cliffs. On this hot summer day, the stunning waterfall offered a perfectly refreshing pause. The story behind the gorge captivated us completely, adding an enchanting layer to this remarkable spot.

The gorge is named after Emperor Frederick I, who rested here briefly after a crusade. According to legend, the devil appeared to him in a dream while in the gorge—visitors can discover the full tale along the themed trail.

An Active Ride to the Sea with Paula

Athletic

For Paula, this gravel bike tour offered variety, a physical challenge, and the perfect rhythm for anyone who loves traveling from mountains to rivers to the sea. From the Alpine scenery of Salzburg, through Carinthia, to the Italian charm of Grado—each stage revealed new highlights. The warm summer weather, the ever-changing landscapes along the route, and the perfect mix of an active, sporty adventure with moments of pure enjoyment made this journey an unforgettable experience for her.

Alpe Adria Drau Cycle Path

My Favorite Spot

On the long, narrow road stretching into the sea, between sky and water, a lone tree stands like a quiet guide at the journey’s end. A gentle sea breeze blows, seagulls circle overhead, and the Adriatic’s light shimmers across the water. A nearby bench invites a pause—a moment to simply be.

A place that needs nothing but the present moment. Here, we stop, sit on the bench, take a deep breath—and know: we’ve arrived. In Grado, the grand finale of our journey to the sea.

Many Roads Lead to Italy...

…and every cycling route tells its own story. Our Eurobike Cycling Tours lead from countless beautiful starting points to the breathtaking landscapes of Italy. Whether departing from the picturesque town of Bled or passing through the charming cities of Merano and Bolzano, gently nestled in South Tyrol’s stunning scenery, each route offers unique experiences. Our colleagues Ramona, Sabine, Vanessa, Lilly, and Hannes have also discovered their personal favorite spots in Italy.

Between Peaks and Gondolas with Ramona

Medium

For Ramona, this cycling tour was both a small adventure and a rewarding workout. Towering mountains, the gentle expanses of the south, and the incomparable elegance of Venice were just a few of the highlights on her journey from Bled to the lagoon city. Looking back, it’s the little, special moments that linger in her memory: the pizza too good to share, the music filling St. Mark’s Square, and the sense of being fully present on the road. In just six days, this tour proved that you can cover plenty of miles while gathering countless unforgettable experiences.

Tarvis Pontebba Bridge Railway Line

My Favorite Spot

The Radovna Valley captured my heart at first sight. Nestled between soaring cliffs and quiet forests, it exudes a rare sense of calm. Located in Triglav National Park, between the Karawanks and the Julian Alps, the valley feels familiar yet entirely unique.

My favorite spot is shaded by trees—perfect for a picnic or, as we did, a leisurely break at Gostilna Psnak. Sitting in the shade with a cold soda in hand, my gaze drifts across the breathtaking landscape. On this clear summer day, I even catch a glimpse of the north face of Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak.

My Tip: pause here, take a deep breath, and simply soak in the view.

Tuscany with Hannes - Based in One Hotel

Challenging

Before setting off on his tour, Hannes had read and heard so much about Tuscany—its breathtaking landscapes, excellent cuisine, and fantastic cycling routes. During his cycling vacation, all of this proved true. The beautiful hotel, charming towns, and varied bike tours left lasting impressions while covering every highlight Tuscany has to offer. His excursions took him from the Val di Nievole valley to Monte Pisano and the coast, with stops in Vinci and Lucca along the way. A cycling holiday to remember for years to come.

Tuscany - based in one hotel Landscape

My Favorite Spot

My wife and I saw and experienced a lot during this week, and while there are many amazing places, there’s one truly special favorite spot. When you reach the starting point of the tour at Monte Pisano and cycle about 200 meters downhill, you arrive at a viewpoint where you can see both the sea and Pisa. This is not a place to pass by—you simply have to stop and take in the breathtaking view.

Mount Pisano

Adventure at Lake Garda

After many miles on the bike, finally glimpsing Lake Garda is a moment that stays with you. The sparkling water, the dramatic mountain backdrop, and the sheer sense of arrival make this spot unforgettable. Our colleagues Sabine and Vanessa were equally enchanted by Lake Garda’s charm, exploring its beauty in detail on their cycling tours.

From South Tyrol to Lake Garda with Sabine

Easy

If Sabine had to sum up her cycling tour from Merano to Lake Garda in just a few words, there would be only one choice: breathtakingly beautiful. She was especially enchanted by the combination of active cycling, stunning landscapes, and culinary delights. With sunshine as her companion, the route first followed the picturesque South Tyrolean Wine Road, passing gentle hills and charming wine villages. As the miles went by, the scenery gradually changed: cypress, fig, and olive trees signaled the arrival of the Mediterranean. The only real climb—the small Passo San Giovanni—was quickly overcome, and then, suddenly, it appeared: Lake Garda. Sparkling waters framed by steep cliffs, a view that made every effort feel completely rewarded.

Lake Garda Adige Cycle Path

My Favorite Spot

A detour to remember: along the idyllic Brandis Waalweg near Lana, a short walk leads to the romantic Brandis Waterfall. Surrounded by moss-covered rocks and lush greenery, this spot feels like a hidden natural paradise. The cool water, fresh air, and gentle sound of the waterfall invite you to pause, relax, and simply enjoy the moment.

Lake Garda Waterfall

Around Lake Garda with Vanessa

Challenging

For Vanessa, Lake Garda is always a must-visit. She traveled there with her mother by train, passing through Innsbruck and Verona before arriving in Desenzano. The next day, they set off on their bikes, cycling through Sirmione with its impressive water castle, continuing to Peschiera, and finally reaching Garda. On the second day, the route led past olive groves all the way to Nago, where they were rewarded with stunning views over the lake. And of course, a refreshing dip in the cool water was the perfect way to end the day.

Lago di Cavedino

My Favorite Spot

To wrap up a perfect cycling tour and reflect on the experiences, I can recommend a cozy restaurant in Desenzano. La Cambusa della Fraglia is tucked away near the harbor, slightly off the main promenade. From the outside, it might seem unassuming, but around the back, a small terrace offers direct views of the lake. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the scenery is simply stunning—even if you just stop for an aperitif. A glass of Lugana wine and the incredibly delicious Paccheri allo scoglio truly stole our hearts.
