This self-guided cycle tour through Austria follows the well-signposted Tauern Cycle Path on flat to gently rolling terrain. Starting in Salzburg, the route leads through the Salzach valley past Hallein, St. Johann, and Kaprun/Zell am See to the Krimml Waterfalls, Europe's tallest. Highlights include the Pongau Cathedral, high mountain reservoirs, Hohe Tauern National Park, Seisenberg gorge, and Bad Reichenhall. Daily distances average 45-70 km on quiet, asphalted paths.

The Tauern Cycle Path is continuously signposted and runs on quiet, asphalted cycle paths and country roads. Route is very flat with some slight hills that are never long.
