This cycling tour begins in Krimml, nestled in the heart of Hohe Tauern National Park. Stunning alpine vistas, lush green valleys, and the flowing Salzach, Saalach, and Inn rivers accompany you on your journey to the “City of Three Rivers,” Passau. A standout highlight awaits midway in the Mozart city of Salzburg where you can wander through the beautiful Mirabell Gardens, the lively Getreidegasse, and ascend to the impressive Hohensalzburg Fortress. The verdant Inn meadows then guide you to the magnificent castle complex in Burghausen, the historic Reichersberg Abbey, and the charming Baroque town of Schärding. Upon reaching Passau, immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of this bustling university city and its Mediterranean-inspired streets—no wonder locals affectionately call it the “Venice of Bavaria.”

Starting from the picturesque Krimml, your first leg takes you through the High Tauern National Park. Treat yourself to a refreshing break by or in Lake Zell and spend the night in the charming Saalfelden. On the next day, you'll pass through the Seisenberg Gorge and have the opportunity to visit the famous Lamprechtshöhle cave. Upon reaching Salzburg, a leisurely stroll through the Old Town and a stop at a traditional Austrian restaurant are highly recommended.

During the third leg, you transition to the considerably flatter but equally charming Innviertel. Before that, take a moment to visit the "Silent Night Chapel" in Oberndorf and make a stop at Central Europe's largest castle complex in Burghausen. Now, the final stage awaits you, where, before reaching Passau, you can relish the views of Reichersberg Castle and the magnificent Silberzeile in Schärding. Upon arriving in Passau, it's advisable to gain a good overview and immerse yourself in Bavarian culture, perhaps at the renowned Scharfrichterhaus.

  • The Mozart city of Salzburg: The Getreidegasse with the famous birthplace of the musical prodigy is an absolute must-visit in Salzburg – the entire Old Town is lined with noteworthy sites. Explore the city's many museums, from the House of Nature to the Rupertinum, the Museum of Modern Art.
  • Cycling along the wild and romantic River Inn: The beautiful mountain scenery of the High Tauern is, of course, a highlight of the journey, but the kilometers along the Inn River also have their own charm. Let the nature of the winding meadows unfold around you, observe the impressive birdlife, and savor the atmosphere in Burghausen, Simbach, or Obernberg.
  • The Three Rivers City Passau: This city is simply magical! From the Fünferlsteg, the beer garden at Veste Oberhaus, or the café in the Tower at Neue Mitte – beautiful views can be enjoyed at many corners of the city. Make sure to explore the winding alleys of the Old Town as well!

Our sports-oriented tours involve a certain amount of kilometers or elevation. On the Tauern Cycle Path, you cover between 70 and 90 kilometers per day. The cycling paths are optimally developed, and the views are delightful. However, a good level of endurance is recommended, allowing you to fully enjoy the magnificent regions around you.

Eurobike's sporty cycling tours combine challenging routes with comprehensive comfort, available in diverse locations such as Austria, Germany, and Italy. Intrigued by the Tauern Cycle Path? Here, you'll find comprehensive information about this special route.
