The Lahn has its source in the Rothaargebirge mountains amidst quiet forests on gentle hills. An excursion to the Lahn source takes you to an unspoilt landscape in the heart of Germany. Red cheeks guaranteed. You follow the Lahn on rapid descents, the valley widens, the slopes become flatter and bathing lakes lure cyclists into the cool water. Behind Weilburg, the Taunus and Westerwald mountains approach the Lahn and form a gorge-like valley. Wonderful cycling experiences combined with numerous sights await you. The Lahn winds its way through the Nassau Nature Park in numerous loops and twists until it flows into the Rhine at Lahnstein.
You cycle on mostly flat, tarmac cycle and hiking paths away from traffic, with the occasional small climb. The route is well and uniformly signposted throughout. For the most part, a railway line runs parallel to the cycle path.
