From Villach to Grado
The Alpe Adria Cycle Path from Villach to Grado follows well-designed cycle paths through Austria and Italy. Daily stages range from 25-35 km on mostly flat to slightly downhill terrain, with one challenging climb between Villach and Tarvisio. The route passes through the Friulian Alps, includes a train ride from Pontebba to Udine, and visits historic towns like Palmanova and Aquileia before reaching the Adriatic resort of Grado with its sandy beaches and lagoon landscape.

You mostly cycle on well-designed cycle paths and quiet side roads. Only a few sections also lead you on roads with heavier traffic or on dirt paths.The cycle stages are between 25 and 35 km long, the topography is mostly flat to slightly downhill, with the most challenging section between Villach and Tarvisio featuring a long climb. We recommend that children have a good basic level of fitness, good cycling skills and safety in traffic.
