Small stream called Fuschler Ache, surrounded by meadows and trees, in the background some mountains

The numerous specialties and attractions of the Salzkammergut await you on this sporty cycle tour! In seven days you will discover spectacular lakes, culinary delights and cultural delicacies. Explore the oldest salt mine in the world between the sporty cycling stages, immerse yourself in the festival city of Salzburg and enjoy the flair in the Imperial town of Bad Ischl. Escaping from daily life can be so easy with the wonderful panoramas of the Salzkammergut.

It starts in Salzburg! The fourth largest city in Austria hosts the world-famous festival, which has a year-round influence on the city’s cultural diversity. Incidentally, the baroque old town is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

The first stage of the tour is already sensational! Over the tranquil Holzöstersee you go to the Trumer Lake District including Obertrumer See, Mattsee and Grabensee. Mondsee, Attersee and/or Traunsee? You will be spoiled for choice as to where you want to cool off. The charming towns on the tour include Gmunden, Hallstatt, Bad Ischl and St. Wolfgang. Soak up the nature along the route when you cycle past the Zinkenbachklamm, the Aurach Valley or the lakesides.

  • The Getreidegasse in Salzburg is not only the birthplace of one of the most famous Austrians – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is also a wonderful place to marvel, stroll and people watch. The artistic guild shop signs whisk you away into the history of the place, its shops and craftsmen. The pretty inner courtyards and through houses show the special architecture of this place, where traditional shops alternate with international boutiques.
  • The turquoise green Attersee is the largest lake in the Austrian Alps and is often referred to as the ‘Caribbean of the Salzkammergut’. Whether it’s a swim in the waves, a dive or a boat trip, pure relaxation awaits!
  • The Hallstatt World Heritage Site: Small but mighty! With 746 inhabitants, Hallstatt is small, but the village has a lot to offer. A beautiful lake, picturesque town centre, historic ossuary and impressive ‘Skywalk’ are just a few examples.
  • The panorama from the Schafberg on Lake Wolfgang is probably one of the best in the entire Salzkammergut. You can also taste a culinary delicacy in the ‘Himmelspforte’. That’s the refuge on the summit of the mountain.

The start and end of the cycle tour are in beautiful Salzburg. The daily stages are designed for sporty cyclists and are between 60 and 85km long. Flat cycle paths and side roads lead along lakes and alternate with hilly areas.
