Moselle cycle path family

Rarely do six rivers play a prominent role in one of our tours. This seven-day cycling vacation, leading you through Germany and Luxembourg, unveils the valleys of the Moselle, Saar, Sauer, Nims, Kyll, and Prüm. Along the way, you'll encounter historical and cultural landmarks, such as the cities of Echternach and Trier, the striking Saar Loop, and the castle ruins of Saarburg. The cycling paths are adorned with picturesque vineyards, tempting you to indulge in the tasting of exquisite wines.

The tour starts in the wine village of Nittel, where you initially cycle along the Moselle and from Wasserbillig along the Sauer. Echternach, the oldest town in Luxembourg, awaits you during the first stage, and a visit to the waterfalls in Irrel is certainly recommended. Via the Nims cycle path, you enter the Kyll Valley, which captivates with beautiful nature.

On the fourth day, you cycle along the Moselle to Trier and continue through the Saar Valley to Saarburg, where an impressive castle ruin dominates the landscape. After a detour to the German-French border, you'll reach Perl. The route then leads you back to Nittel. Take a moment to reflect on your journey while enjoying a regional glass of wine, allowing the enchanting memories to accompany you on your journey home..

  • Roman cultural heritage in Trier: Germany's oldest city rightfully holds a place in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Among its many renowned attractions, the Porta Nigra and the amphitheater stand out. Don't miss a visit to the Church of Our Lady, St. Peter's Cathedral, and the Imperial Baths.
  • Irrel waterfalls: The picturesque area around the waterfalls in Irrel invites relaxation. The beautiful stream landscape remains a place of tranquility, although the course has changed due to the flooding in 2021.
  • The view of the Saar Loop: The Saarschleife offers beautiful views, whether from the river level or from above. Dare to climb up to the viewpoint called "Cloef" – you surely won't regret it!

As the route winds through diverse river valleys, you'll be treated to a variety of impressions from different regions – approximately 235 kilometers of beautiful landscapes and historically rich cities lie ahead. The mostly flat stages are easily manageable, presenting only a few challenging inclines.

From the alpine south to the flat north – for those who love vacations on two wheels, a cycle tour in Germany is a must. The regions are so diverse and multifaceted that everyone can find their dream destination between Lake Chiemsee and Sylt!
