Bavaria’s lake district is defined by its natural beauty and unmistakable charm, reflected in the traditional architecture of quaint villages and the genuine warmth of its people. You can head high up to the Zugspitze or take a refreshing plunge into the region’s sparkling lakes. Staffelsee, Riegsee, and Barmsee are just a few of the picture-perfect gems scattered along the route. Historic trade routes shaped the region’s past and its prosperity—evident today in the ornate town centers. In Munich, the Weißwurst capital, rustic beer gardens and the iconic Eisbach wave blend tradition with a modern urban vibe. It’s not just Bavarian culture that’s brimming with charm—your accommodations are, too. Each hotel offers its own unique flair and inviting character.
This tour features five manageable daily stages, covering a maximum of 70 kilometers (around 43 miles). The few short climbs can be comfortably tackled—often just by walking your bike for a bit. The route follows well-maintained bike paths and quiet country roads, with only brief sections on main roads. Most of the surface is paved, with some longer stretches on smooth, compacted natural trails that are pleasant to ride along.
