A small balcony that had a big impact. Two young people in love till the death. Live the story in the historic town of Verona. Where Shakespeare’s tragedy ‘Romeo and Juliet’ was set is your final destination. In Reschen you hop onto the bike and start peddling. Over eight days you will cycle through a Mediterranean landscape, grape-hung vineyards and numerous orchards. At every stop there is another delicacy to try!

When Germany gradually changes into Italy you have arrived in the ‘real’ South Tyrol. Take the bike along the Adige to Silandro, Merano, Bolzano, Trento and Riva Over. These towns are definitely worth a pit stop. There are plenty of freshly harvested fruit and vegetables there. Once you’ve arrived in Verona, it’s time to put your feet up. After a short break, the search for the best ‘gelato’ commences. Tipp: Try a daring ice cream flavour. How about fig caramel in ice cream parlour Gelateria Ballini on Piazza San Tomaso? Tuck in and enjoy!

  • Colourful sea of flowers: Depending on the season, northern Italy shines in colourful floral splendour. Pink, white and pale yellow blooms ooze their beguiling fragrance. Take a whiff for yourself!
  • Messner Mountain Museum: In South Tyrol, the Museum in Bolzano has dedicated itself entirely to the man from the ice. Learn about the Stone Age and the mystery surrounding Ötzi.
  • Experience ‘Amore mio’ in Verona: Experience the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliette during an interactive city tour.

Beautiful cycle paths along the Adige await you. Cycle across few gradients and almost continually asphalted paths through picturesque towns. Those cyclists who enjoy riding downhill will also be pleased: from Resia to Lake Garda, the route continues for 1500 metres down the valley. But please – remember to break!

Take your time exploring the beauty of South Tyrol—there’s no better way than by bike! Your journey begins at Lake Resia, right near the Austrian border. Majestic Alpine views, blooming orchards, and vineyards guide you into the historic towns of Merano and Bolzano. Here, Mediterranean flair meets South Tyrolean charm—soak in the atmosphere over an Aperol Spritz or a cappuccino. Idyllic wine villages like Auer and Lana line your route, along with the cathedral city of Trento. Before you admire the Arena in Verona or visit Juliet’s House, the sparkling waters of Lake Garda await. And just like at Lake Kaltern a few days earlier, a refreshing dip and a scenic boat ride are the perfect way to enjoy a summer day.

Two paths lead to Bolzano: One along the Adige River and another through the impressive landscape of orchards via Lana and Appiano. Here you can find the Messner Mountain Museum in the well-restored ruin of Sigmundskron. Ötzi – the man from the ice – is worth a visit.

Itinerary at a glance

South Tyrol’s fruits are a true delight, and its wines thrive just as splendidly—especially during apple and apricot blossom season, when the air carries a heady, sweet fragrance. In rustic Italian taverns, each sip of wine seems to taste even better. Castles and fortresses line the way, and near Bolzano, the restored ruins of Sigmundskron Castle, home to the Messner Mountain Museum, invite a memorable visit. In Verona, Trento, and Merano, you’ll stroll through lively alleyways, vibrant piazzas, and take in the region’s remarkable architecture.

In the evening, you’ll receive your personalized tour briefing and bike handover. A short stroll offers stunning views of Lake Resia and the surrounding peaks and the perfect way to ease into the spirit of South Tyrol.

Two route options lead to Bolzano: one follows the Etsch River, while the more scenic path meanders through orchards via Lana and Eppan. Along the way, you’ll discover the Messner Mountain Museum, housed within the beautifully restored ruins of Sigmundskron Castle. Visiting Ötzi, the Iceman, offers a truly fascinating experience.

Unfortunately, moderate traffic is unavoidable on some short connecting roads.
