How would you describe your emergency management system in general terms?

Our focus is on the early detection and assessment of unexpected events that could affect or disrupt the course of a vacation. These can include natural occurrences such as storms, flooding, or wildfires, as well as political unrest, strikes, or even acts of violence.

Our highest priority is ensuring the safety of our guests at all times by taking all necessary precautions. Equally important is clear and timely communication—both within our organization and directly with our guests.

How do you respond in the event of an emergency?

Our emergency management system is structured in multiple stages, providing a clear and organized framework for action. In addition to daily monitoring of developments in our travel regions, any unexpected event is quickly categorized, which then determines the appropriate measures to be taken.

Can you share a specific example where the emergency management system proved effective?

Absolutely. A recent example is the nationwide railway strike in Italy in May 2025. Thanks to our well-established emergency management system, we were able to act quickly and efficiently, informing all affected guests without delay about the limited train services and offering clear alternatives. Where needed, we organized substitute transfers to ensure their travel plans stayed on track with minimal disruption.

Who is responsible for coordination in the event of an emergency?

Our Eurobike crisis team is made up of several departments that work closely together. This collaborative approach ensures that all responsible parties are informed and able to coordinate the next steps—whether it’s communication, on-the-ground logistics, or guest support—quickly and effectively.

How are travelers informed?

Once an emergency occurs, the headquarters in Obertrum assesses the situation and determines the next steps accordingly. We ensure that all guests are notified without delay—via email, phone call, or app message. This communication reaches not only those currently on-site but also travelers yet to start their journey, as well as guests in the destination area who may not be directly impacted by the event.

What role do our support teams on-site play?

We maintain close collaboration with our local stations, whose teams are available around the clock to assist guests and provide real-time updates on evolving situations. Meanwhile, all coordination is centralized at our headquarters in Obertrum, where critical decisions regarding emergency response and next steps are made efficiently.

What, in your opinion, distinguishes exceptional emergency management from an average one?

It begins with proactive monitoring—anticipating situations rather than reacting to them. From there, success hinges on clear, rapid communication and decisive, confident action to effectively manage any challenge.

What would you say to guests who are concerned about unforeseen events?

It’s completely natural to have concerns, but in reality, unexpected incidents are very rare at our destinations. The vast majority of our guests—around 99%—enjoy a smooth and memorable vacation without any problems. And should anything unexpected ever arise, we’re always there to support our guests every step of the way, ensuring their safety and providing reliable solutions with care and commitment.
