From Garmisch-Partenkirchen, you’ll cycle through Klais to the beautiful Barmsee. From there, you can either ride directly to your overnight stop or take a detour through Mittenwald and Scharnitz to visit the source of the Isar River. You’ll climb a total of 300 meters (about 1,000 feet) to Scharnitz, then continue gently uphill through wild, romantic gorges and lush alpine meadows to the Isar spring. On the return, you’ll follow the sunny high valley with stunning views of the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountain ranges, passing through Mittenwald on your way to Wallgau, a village where Bavarian traditions are still very much alive.
